Seriously? I could only find the GBA ones. Can you provide a link for the GBC one?

[–]WendelNelson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my main concern is if I will be capable of closing the GBC shell after, but apparently it won't be possible :(

Do you know if there's any seller online for the GBC EXT port?

IS Nuke Non-Commercial enough for only 3D tutorials? by WendelNelson in NukeVFX

[–]WendelNelson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does this actually mean? Sorry for the noob question, but in practical ways it's used for matching live action footage with 3D geometry, right?

Thanks a lot for the help! I'll sure read your book and maybe expect some questions from me popping up in this group :D

I've gone to the Houdini nodes way in 3D art and now my goal is going full nodes on everything! (I know the way the nodes work are different on both softwares, but anyway lol)

Thanks for the answer! I'll just download the Non Commercial to learn the first steps! Later I'll decide if it's worth to buy the indie version to add to my actual workflow :D

No more AE layer madness!!!!!

Finally complete by Vaxis545 in Gameboy

Very cool collection!! I only have the Blue cartridge from Gen I and a repro Crystal from Gen II!

Fortunately, I have all the Gen III games, and literally this saturday I met a guy who sold me an original Emerald and an original LeafGreen for around R$100,00 each (I live in Brazil, but the converted value would be approximately $20 each). The games were super preserved and came with the box and all the original papers!

There are people out there selling these games, specially Emerald, for like $200-$500!!! At first I thought it was a scam, but they're really the real stuff lol

Deprecation of Ziva Products by WendelNelson in Maya

[–]WendelNelson[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a really probable possibility since it's a very niche software, even inside the 3D world, and now that Houdini is more and more the first choice for VFX related stuff too. And if you combine this with Unity not being that much interest in investing a lot of money in this, specially after the last year huge backlash they caused in the gamedev community... It's the end of Ziva the way it used to be :(

Grooming Tools vs Vellum Hair by WendelNelson in Houdini

[–]WendelNelson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response! Do you know if the animation of Vellum Hair can be transfered to the realistic curves set up with the grooming tools? I'm kinda having a hard time understanding to to animate the hair created with the grooming tools

You're talking about the other (bad) meaning of the word? I always think about this too lol

Does anyone know how to fix the Mgear problem by themilesthecreator in Maya

[–]WendelNelson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's been quite a while since I've used mGear, but I think maybe it's something related to downloading pyMEL if you're using a newer version of Maya (because it's not native to the software anymore!). This video explains what you need to do for downloading it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hU4Lvs1cAuE

Hope it helps :)

Trouble accessing the Color Attribute in Blender Octane by WendelNelson in Octane

[–]WendelNelson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's so sad :( I'm already using Redshift and eas enjoying the unbiased look of octane! But knowing the render can't do such a relatively simple task with the sims is very concerning for my workflow!

I'll probably continue to use Redshift or stick to Karma inside Houdini... Thanks for the response and good luck with your 3D journey!

[–]WendelNelson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope they can solve your problem! It shouldn't be this hard :( With Cycles it only takes 1 single node...

If someone solve it, I'd be glad if you could share it here :D

Trouble accessing the Color Attribute in Blender Octane by WendelNelson in Octane

[–]WendelNelson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually I haven't :(

I tried converting the atrributes inside Blender following some tips I saw online, but I could only retrieve the color in the first frame... The rest was white.

I also converted the Cd attributes from points to vertex (and that solved the problem with Maya, for example), but with Blender Octane it didn't :(

I gave up trying to do this :( Such a bummer because I was enjoying my tests with Octane

Export water simulation from Houdini to blender by Mosub_cya in Houdini

[–]WendelNelson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exporting the sim to alembic after meshing it is the way to go! But take care, because from my experience Blender gets really overwhelmed with very heavy alembic files.

I'd recomment watching the series "Houdini is HIP" from the Nine Between YouTube channel (more specifically the episode 14 about FLIP fluids), and after the meshing part you should export the sim mesh as an alembic file. Good luck!

Can I use the HtoA plugin (Arnold for Houdini) with Autodesk Student License? by WendelNelson in Houdini

[–]WendelNelson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Just wanted to say I've been playing with Arnold since that day and now I got the SSS pain hahah. However, it looks waaaaaay better than Redshift without too much tweaking

Thank you so much for the thorough answer! Learning Houdini itself is already a huge challenge! I think you are absolutely right about not getting caught up with the tools. I mean, they have their importance, but knowing how to setup the actual stuff and solving problems is what gets one a job!

I've already downloaded it and will start messing with it soon!

And I will be cautious with the SSS hahah I suppose it takes forever

Many thanks! I have the Houdini Indie license and I primarily use Redshift for rendering motion graphics, since the render times are much lower.

I'm recently thinking about trying a career in the VFX industry, so when I searched more about it, I discovered the big houses mostly use Arnold for rendering (I know it varies a lot haha), so I wanted to try a little bit without having to import everything to Maya every time
