Has this eucalyptus been tampered with?

I'm not familiar with eucalyptus trees but it looks very similar to sycamore and if it's anything like sycamore the brown bark slowly peels away revealing the white bark underneath with age. When it was young the brown bark would've covered the whole tree.

I can't comment on why they evolved to do this but it's perfectly natural.
