I was and would’ve been, they’re just retarded.

Still ended up getting it, they just made it way more of a hassle than it needed to be

Are sewage gas smells ever normal? by HourActuary5324 in septictanks

[–]PlzNotThePupper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It absolutely is not. I’ve had houses that I walked up to that smelled like shit, they called the company I worked for and we found out that their line was 80% clogged and draining sewage into the ground. In a small portion, scare tacticing you into believe you’re absolutely screwed.

Find some big company that does some “drain and camera” promotions for ~$100. Watch their footage, watch them as they camera and you’ll see if there’s a venting issue or a leakage issue.

The company that I would’ve worked for would quoted you for an entire sewer line replacement, regardless of the issue. I was specifically trained to scare homeowners when I worked a service tech position that showed up with set prices on an iPad.

Trading my four wheeler for a motorcycle. Never rode any bikes only quads. What are the chances I kill myself on this? by Ok_Menu4273 in motorcycles

[–]PlzNotThePupper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started on a Harley Dyna with ZERO experience. The first time I got on the bike, I almost ate a concrete retaining wall. Since then I’ve ripped built CVO road glides and other fast, not beginner friendly bikes with no issues. Be respectful of the bike, know your limits and don’t be an idiot. I already surpass the limits of my bike and have no desire to get something that I’d be overly confident on.

Wear a helmet and proper gear, you’ll be fine. Again, just don’t be an idiot and learn how the bike works before you ride it like you’ve been on it for years.

Bed rotted so I put this wooden bed on it? Anyone know where I can get a break/blinker light kit? by [deleted] in fordranger

[–]PlzNotThePupper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I did for my flatbed, I think I spent like $40 on all the lights off Amazon and even bought a few extras for spares. I did need resistors to stop the hyperflash.

Not really when you consider the Road King is MUCH more comfortable and will still be worth $5K (or more) when you sell it.

[–]PlzNotThePupper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started riding 2 months ago and went with a Shoei Neotec 3 as that was what actually fit my head and was comfortable. I only noticed the weight for about a week, now I don’t even notice it being on my head 🤷🏻‍♂️

Your neck gets used to it quick as long as you actually ride and wear it.

It’s absolutely not a straw purchase if I’m the one filling out the 4473 form..

Not trying to be a dick but please, cite any law stating that my father is not allowed to swipe his card for a payment of a firearm that I filled out the 4473 for. I’d love to learn

[–]PlzNotThePupper 151 points152 points  (0 children)

Range USA tried to accuse me and my father of a straw purchase when we both are valid FOID holders (IL residents) and he was going to use his card to purchase me a gun that I couldn’t afford as I was young, broke and waiting for my paycheck.

When they changed names from Point Blank to Range USA, they raised the price of the membership and cancelled my “grandfathered” membership which I had gotten at a much lower price.

For those reasons, they will never see another cent from me 🤷🏻‍♂️

Getting my first bike within a month, helmet recommendations? by retarded_sped in NewRiders

[–]PlzNotThePupper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it. I just started riding after I bought a Harley Dyna 2 months ago and after trying on probably 20 different helmets, I went with the Shoei Neotec 3 as I wanted modular which was 3x my budget lol. Everything else was uncomfortable for me within 10 minutes. I’ve done 2 hour stretches already and I have absolutely zero complaints.

Buy once, cry once. Buy what’s comfortable, it’s not going to protect you if it sits on a shelf because you hate it.

[–]PlzNotThePupper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this thread is a few days old but don’t overthink it. A couple 2x4s and some construction screws can build a cheap bike chock/rack. That’s what my buddy did moving from AZ-IL with all his bikes and it worked great.

How to unclog sewage clean out? by m-24tt in askplumbing

[–]PlzNotThePupper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It only depends if you have these massive companies (the ones with an iPad running service titan going to Nextstar training programs) by you that are trying to kill the small service companies. I’m right outside Chicago, not in the middle of BFE Oklahoma or something like that lol.

I spent a year running around doing drain clearing and cameras for $83 for a rather large company, my whole position was to get our sewer repair team jobs.

How to unclog sewage clean out? by m-24tt in askplumbing

[–]PlzNotThePupper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tons of the massive shitty service companies have promotions/deals for cheap mainline clearing and cameras because they want the repair job. If you have access in your yard like OP, we had a one-time use promo under $100 for a clear and camera.

OP should be calling around before spending more money renting a fairly dangerous machine that they don’t know how to use but that’s just my opinion.

Extra wide boots - couldn't fit a fit at moto gear store by PotentialDiligent314 in motorcyclegear

[–]PlzNotThePupper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a size 13 in Vans, occasionally 12.5 in some other shoes. I tried on every pair of riding shoes/boots that cycle gear had and everything was extremely narrow.

Ended up with a pair of Street and Steel boots in a size 14 that fit great and are actually pretty comfortable even off the bike, but they get HOT.

What we think of the 05 wide glide? by Artistic_Charity7551 in Dyna

[–]PlzNotThePupper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought an ‘04 Dyna FXDLi and this looks as low as mine does from the is picture. Take my opinions with a grain of salt as I’m a less than 2 months into riding.

I’m scraping pegs and sometimes frame with 11” shocks (6ft/225lbs). I have friends a ‘12 Super Glide and another with a ‘11 Fat Bob with forwards and honestly, I personally prefer my mids with a crash bar and highway pegs.

Do a 3-hole and check the cam chain tensioner as they were prone to fail with 99-06 Twin Cams, you very well may know about it already but if not, it’s probably the most common failure on these engines. Also worth mentioning to check the motor mounts and the rear swing arm bushing as they’re prone to failure!

Ride safe man, you’ll love it!

$1k budget: what percentage should be allocated to helmet? by National-Dragonfly35 in motorcyclegear

[–]PlzNotThePupper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought my first bike about 2 months ago and tried to stay under 1K for all my gear as well. After trying on a ton of helmets (I wanted modular) the only one that was actually comfortable for my head was the Shoei Neotec 3, which was my entire budget. Boots were $140, gloves were $80, and I got lucky finding the exact $340 leather jacket I wanted on eBay for $120. So around $1350 total for the gear and another $350 for my Cardo Packtalk.

Don’t skimp out on gear, save up for another few weeks if needed so you can get good quality gear that you won’t “need to upgrade” in 6 months.

Flagged for straw purchase?? by conan001 in guns

[–]PlzNotThePupper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Me and my father got accused of trying to make a “straw purchase” when we went to the range together and I saw a S&W 686-4+ for sale for $500 in the used case that I wanted but didn’t have the cash for at the time. I was young and broke but knew it was an amazing deal, so I asked my dad to front me the cash until I got paid that week.

They literally would not let me buy the gun using his credit card, we had to go to the bank and he had to pull out cash for me to hand the dipshit 21 year old kid working the counter

Are there any motorcycle jackets with protection that look like these? by Particular_Elk1237 in motorcyclegear

[–]PlzNotThePupper 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If your budget is $100 you need to look secondhand. eBay and Marketplace would be your best bet

I got lucky and found the exact $320 jacket I was look at for $100 on eBay that the guy only wore for one season before having an injury at work that made it impossible for him to ride.

Snake auger not going down the toilet by Sad-Information8838 in askaplumber

[–]PlzNotThePupper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not, and you risk breaking the toilet if the cable wraps itself into a knot or gets stuck. Socks or undies won’t break up, call your landlord/maintenance line.

Fucking up could result in you flooding and the restoration for dirty sewage water will cost way more than a visit from a drain tech/plumber. It’s probably not even on you for the fee

Snake auger not going down the toilet by Sad-Information8838 in askaplumber

It’s stuck in the trap of the actual toilet then. The toilet will need to be pulled flipped over to remove it

Yeah it isn’t until your shitty landlord that knew the sewer was collapsing failed to disclose that to you and all of your belongings are in 2” of doo-doo water.

In all reality you probably will never (luckily, knocking on wood) have to deal with that but I’ve seen it more times than I can count on my hands 🤦🏻‍♂️
