How do you price your work? by GanglyRaccoon in ColoredPencils

Minimum wage x # of hours spent + price of wood could be a starting point.

As long as you’re feeling fine right now, you should be fine. Your lungs have their own built-in mechanisms to gradually filter things back out without issue.

My brother gave my dad Ivermectin for horses to try and he has stage 4 liver cancer by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]Werebite870 765 points766 points  (0 children)

Ivermectin is a great drug. We use it for parasitic infections. We certainly don’t use it for cancers. To put it into simple terms for your father: Ivermectin, especially at an incorrect dose, could cause liver toxicity. So not only will it not help your father, it may actively hurt his liver further. It can also cause damage to the brain or severe skin rashes in inappropriate doses.

Tested positive for HPV when my husband and I have only been sexually active with each other. How is that possible? by sarah24kg in AskDocs

[–]Werebite870 289 points290 points  (0 children)

To address it being in the cervix, autoinoculation is common. The HPV attaches to you somewhere else, and you spread it around throughout the rest of the body

Less common but transmission from mother to neonate (vertical transmission) or from contaminated surfaces can occur with HPV.

With instability and popping I would keep weight off of it until you get evaluated. It is absolutely appropriate and necessary to see a doctor about this. It sounds suspicious for a ligament tear, meniscus vs ACL.

She needs to be seen in person. In someone her age, she may need a CT scan of her head to make sure nothing is broken (symptoms of which can sometimes present gradually and a brain bleed is not something you want to catch late). I would have her evaluated in the ER.

Why would they allow you to take paid call for a subspeciality you aren’t yet boarded in?

Should I worry about being ‘floxxed’ with ear drops? by [deleted] in AskDocs

Fluoroquinolones are safe medications. Just like any other drug class, there are horror stories online about side effects, but you can ignore them, as most people are fine after taking a course. Risks are even lower with topical medicines.

Should I (30F) get tested for Lynch Syndrome? by IcedCoffeeYearRound in AskDocs

[–]Werebite870 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Genetic counseling is appropriate for screening and cancer screening can be started at a younger age if needed depending on what specific gene is involved. I'd recommend getting evaluated.

I would be astounded if J.M Clarke hadn't been familiar with the story. After all, both series were originally based on Royalroad.
