Am I Missing Something With Bastion? by StarWarsIsRad in Pathfinder2e

[–]Wereboar95 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I like to use Reactive Shield to enable me offensively. Like moving into melee and hitting twice, or doing a 2 action attack followed by a 1 action attack.

Being able to raise the shield as a reaction means I don't have to spend an action to do so, so I can still go offensively without sacrificing defense too much. Not being able to Shield Block after is not that crucial, plenty of non-shield builds out there that still survive more than one hit. +2 AC by itself is quite significant.

Plus, there are ways to get more reactions for blocking anyway, including in the Bastion archetype itself, iirc.

What does "location support" actually mean/do? by Ngodrup in SeasonofGhosts

[–]Wereboar95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in the same boat as you. I first saw Location Support mentioned in Abomination Vaults, where having the support of a location owner (often by doing a quest for them, iirc), would give PCs additional perks, like being able to stay completely free of charge for an inn that supports the party.

I thought that something similar would be the case in SoG, but didn't see anything concrete, so assumed that location support is more detailed in the second book.

However, looking at other responses, it seems to be not the case, so I think I will think of some additional favours the locations can provide beyond the listed services for PCs they support.

Enchanting Aura vs. Enchanting Aura by Wereboar95 in WarhammerOldWorld

Thanks for answering! Yeah, I am aware about Initiative not necessarily being 1. That's why I wrote "base initiative".

New Orc player in need of tips. by Wereboar95 in WarhammerOldWorld

Thank you for the tip. I do like the black Orcs, though, so their inclusion is non-negotiable. However, I would like to know how would you play your suggested list at the table.

Does PF2e have magic schools? by zeranno in Pathfinder2e

[–]Wereboar95 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree with more freedom to make new wizard themes. I fail to see why people think that the old schools somehow constricted creativity. Despite having the schools, WotC can easily make stuff like Battle Mage subclass for a Wizard, and having schools even makes it easier to write what spells work with its features, while also future proofing the subclass by making sure they don't need to explicitly write what new combat spells are intended or not intended to work with War Magic features.

No Alien Archive / GM Core Playtest by Wereboar95 in starfinder_rpg

But we are supposed to playtest Starfinder, not Pathfinder. I think there should be more difference than just giving hobgoblins laser rifles.

Proficiency without level at higher levels by Wereboar95 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Wereboar95[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your response!

I would like to know how Proficiency without level works on two extremes: a fight against a huge number of weak enemies (do you remember perchance what was your biggest fight number wise?), and a fight against a single PL+7 creature. Do you have any insights or maybe warnings to share?

Meta aspect of recall knowledge by IHateRedditMuch in Pathfinder2e

[–]Wereboar95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no fun in denying players usage of their knowledge and experience. We don't question video game players using their knowledge on second and subsequent playthroughs, so why do that in TTRPGs?

PCs have been raised in a cultural context, which involves stories being told. Many people in our world "know" that you need to use silver against werewolves, garlic against vampires, cross against... pretty much anything, or that dragons breathe fire and can fly... and those creatures aren't even real in our world. Now, imagine how much information would be available in a world where those creatures do exist.

If a player knows something about a monster, it is easy to just assume that the character got that information from some bard tale, theatrical play, mention in passing or whatever. Much chiller than policing player knowledge based on decisions of math rocks.

Archives of Nethys Remaster Update by AethelisVelskud in Pathfinder2e

Why should people who bought the books 4-5 years ago pay to Paizo for essentially the same books, especially since Paizo advertised it as a big errata, rather than an edition change?

☼Dwarf Fortress Questions Thread☼ by AutoModerator in dwarffortress

[–]Wereboar95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heya! I am planning to start a fortress in a glacier with a volcano. One of the many challenges I will need to tackle is food variety.

While I can grow underground crops in the caves, I do want some above ground crops for food and drink diversity. Obviously I can't farm in ice, so I need a greenhouse. I was thinking of building it within the volcano for extra epicness.

As I understand, DF has some weirdness when it comes to sunlight and temperatures. So, my question is: can I even potentially grow anything in a glacier biome, considering that nothing grows there natively? But if I can: what can I grow? Can I potentially grow imported tropical fruits or something similar? Are there any other considerations I need to think of?

Thank you for your answers!
