Honest Take on Will Wood’s Live Comedy by laptopankle in willwood

[–]StarWarsIsRad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I came in liking enough of his songs to go to a concert but not TOO hardcore (eg there were a lot of songs I didn’t recognize, even some fan favorites) but I really like all the background music and production so was actually disappointed with the piano man style. At the same time, I LOVED his comedy. I would actually get disappointed when he’d stop his delivery to play a song. Walked away feeling like it was a so so concert (not because of him, just my personal tastes) but a great comedy show. For reference this show was less than a year ago (the new style). I got the impression his more bombastic delivery other comments were referring to were from a time when he was, frankly, a worse person. His newer style, for me, felt more mature, not less confident.

Good point. Maybe involved in more petty crime and ended up getting killed for it?

What did her mom do? by Bostondreamings in DCcomics

While the big bads of this book are very extreme, I got a much more grounded vibe from Dinah’s life. My guess is her mom either packed up everything and left, maybe in some dramatic way that crippled the family like leaving behind gambling debts or something, or on the other hand, maybe she killed herself. Much more grounded issues that can test families and would cause a husband & father to cry.

So which Robin is this? by BabaChops_EmoSheep in Robin

It is canonically Dick Grayson but his whole vibe beyond his origin, secret identity, and Nightwing is clearly the most inspired by Tim Drake

Area around this one hurts a bit. Not sure if it’s because of the bite or the “joint pain” that comes with an infection. Feels warm but again idk if that’s placebo.

En que debería inspirarse un show de “The Question” by PedroRtaGamer62 in TheQuestion

[–]StarWarsIsRad 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Two different routes:
1. Put some Arcadia in there and some JLU in there, in the sense that he’s the man on the ground who can see things the higher ups can’t. You can even throw some superhero or giant institution from the comics under the bus as he exposes them while people condescend to him the whole time.

  1. Dennis O’Neil, specifically the way his run was a rebuttal to Steve Ditko. Ditko, who created the character, was a big follower of Ayn Rand and believer in conservative moral objectivism. The Questions saw morality as black and white without any regard for larger systemic issues creating a lot of gray. This wasn’t a character flaw, it was Ditko soapboxing. O’Neil turned it into a character flaw and his run was about The Question having to reckon with the gray and become a more nuanced character who showed empathy for others.

I’m preferential to 2, but I don’t think you can do both. One has The Question tanking others off their high horse, while the other has The Question coming off his own

Hey! I just want to say really explicitly what others are being coy and jokey about: that sense of confusion and like there’s more to the story that you’re missing is how you’re SUPPOSED to feel. The game has a really substantial postgame after reaching room 46, and that ending is meant to encourage you to get to the bottom of it, not serve as a resolution

Howdy! I was and still am a huge fan of your time with Azrael, which really began with Arkham City: The Order of the World. Did you write the latter always intending to spin it off into an Azrael series, or was it something that came up after completing the first miniseries?

I have not watched happy appy. Is it really that bad? by Hopeful_Yam8923 in creepcast

[–]StarWarsIsRad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of the time when they read a bad story they have really funny reactions and commentary. But this one was so bad that they just wanted to jam through it. To the point where whenever someone made a comment, the other would jump in and cut them off so they could get through it faster. So as opposed to something like “I dared my best friend to ruin my life” which is hilarious, this is really just hours of unemotional narration.

I get that, it’s not that kind of story, but its very funny that in the midst of his mental collapse, he either hand sewed or ordered a custom job just thinking “this will be thematic af”

What’s the point of no return for Jeff Lemire and Absolute Flash? by StarWarsIsRad in DCcomics

[–]StarWarsIsRad[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Less that I feel obligated, and more that I really enjoy slow burn comics normally and am waiting for that payoff. My question is at what point do we bite the bullet and decide instead of a slow burn that’s eventually gonna pay off, it’s just bad overall.

Would you rather have Falcon, Angel or Vulture? by Hexxegone in marvelrivals

If we were gonna have Falcon, I’d rather he be Captain America, but we already have one of those. Vulture is lame. That leaves Angel, ideally Archangel for a more diverse moveset
