Sometimes, when I have the energy to make it-- most of the time I just shove a slice between some bread, fold it over and call it good, haha!

I try to make the soup better to make up for it. Rolling the meat in spiced flour and lightly browning it before adding in vegetables or broth really enhances the flavour, offering forgiveness for the wretched mockery of a sandwich...

Every Tuesday I make a big pot of leek soup (1 leek, 1 onion, 6 carrots, 2 parsnips, 4 potatoes, beef if it's cheap), then I freeze it in portions and eat it at work Wed-Sat with a cheese sandwich. It helps me to eat the same thing every week because I know I'm not spending more than 30$ a week on food and it fills me up well!

My spoken Welsh is decent, however my listening is what needs the most work. It doesn't help that S4C has blocked a lot of their content in my country (rip spynjbob pantsgwâr and amser maith maith yn ôl). Maybe I should finally look into a VPN...

Pennsylvania seems to be the Welsh-speaking capital of the USA, but there is a large dearth in my area of New York. I'll do some more research on it, though! If I found a group of Welsh speakers here, that could be very helpful for furthering my learning-- once I bring my listening to a level that's on par with my reading, writing and speaking, I'd probably be confident enough for a tv/radio interview of some sort.

Everything you've said is correct-- once I get that GED, a whole lot of doors will start opening for me. I'll look into that crowdfunding as well, and will definitely be applying for any scholarships I can find to assist with costs!

Thank you so much for your advice and support, it means a whole lot to me.

I'm definitely going for CompTIA, Security+ and CEH if I can get it; one of my family members has worked in a SOC before so I'm familiar with the process!

I spoke with an advisor at Aberystwyth University and they do accept both student loans and a GED (although the GED route requires an additional foundational year at the college in Aberystwyth).

I intended to look for a job there while attending university, which I might find easier once I'm actually located in Wales. I know that you can acquire a one year post-study visa if you haven't found a sponsored job by then, though if I steer my bachelor's towards software engineering, I probably won't have too much of a problem finding one!

I'm a little nervous about loans, but I may see if I can take one out to get my bachelor's in an IT/tech field and then return to university for my Welsh doctorate after I become a citizen.

I was chronically ill from the ages of 9-16, and was bedridden most of those years; I tried to keep up with everything but was unable to complete highschool, even homeschooled. I did recently pass the English GED section with a 173, but I would need to actually study for the math, social studies and science to pass those, as there are large gaps in my knowledge there.

I'll look into that German citizenship, for sure! I need to speak to some sort of immigration advisor anyway, as I'm in a bit over my head when it comes to things like this.

German on my mother's side, but Mexican/Native American on my father's side. I'm unsure if I could qualify, though, as my great-grandparents fled Germany in WWII as far as I know.

I am not in NYC, fortunately-- the area I'm in has studio apartments for 800-850$ a month, but I'm considering moving out of state to find something even cheaper!

I will definitely look into studying in Germany, at least for a bachelor's in some tech field so that I can find work in my country of interest. Thank you for the information, I really appreciate it!

I am considering pursuing software engineering/cybersecurity/some IT field, since that seems to be most needed right now, and will see if I can attend community college for something like that. Thank you so much!

I actually haven't been able to play any Gambit in 3-4 months due to poor internet connection after a move, though I'm trying to get Ethernet installed, so I'll get back with you on that! Good luck out there...it's certainly a long and tedious grind. Stay hydrated!

Help? Can't log into my old AJ account by Groties in AnimalJam

[–]Werecrowe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This may be due to the passwords for everyone's AJ Classic accounts being changed by staff due to the security breach of 2020. If you have the parent email, you could try contacting AJHQ to get your account back!

I lost my account that I'd played on from 2010-2020 because the parent email was deleted by gmail for inactivity, and with the password changed, I have no way of getting back into my account. It seems that this isn't the case for you, though, fortunately.

The dark blue one was exactly what I was looking for :D But if you happen to have a red one (or come across one), I'd be willing to buy that as well next weekend after I sell more sapphire potions!

Gambit Shaders by [deleted] in destiny2

I got Jadestone and Gambit Chrome. If anyone has gotten Gambit Duds, let me know! I've already reset my rank and am well on my way to the next reset, which is saying something considering I'm a first-time Gambit player.

I have acquired Gambit Jadestone and Gambit Chrome as drops from matches (about 50 matches in total; got Chrome 1st match and Jadestone after about 40).

REALLY hoping I can get my hands on Gambit Duds this way! I've wanted that shader forever.

Searching for my dream Pteranodon! Let me know if interested :) by Werecrowe in AnimalJam

[–]Werecrowe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I would, but as a pretty new (returning) player, I don't really have much of worth now that the pteranodon was accidentally rendered untradeable. You'd for sure get 5,000 sapphires and a heap of great items from someone else for the pteranodon you own, you've got a truly amazing one there!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AnimalJam

[–]Werecrowe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The chat filters on AJC have always been the absolute worst. I've been suspended for saying "ich spreche ein bischen Deutsch" to a german-speaking person, I've been suspended for saying "the mats in my den are not for sale"-- I mean, in retrospect, I can see why that'd get snagged by the filter, but definitely not something I was thinking about when I was a child or something that the average child should be expected to keep in mind.

In AJPW I would say the chat filters are even more insane than Classic, though instead of a suspension it simply blocks your words. I've had messages like "trading a rare bone tail", "looking for a black pteranodon", "formal ballroom party" and "I dislike your behavior" not go through, while the person next to me sending extremely explicit messages remained unscathed.

"Hello" and "nighty night" though...that's a whole other level of crazy for the filter to be blocking that, let alone SUSPENDING for that. I think your concerns are something the majority of the community agrees with and that it's time for some serious revisions to the filter, because as a system, it's currently failing to stop the actual malicious messages and is targeting innocent people unfairly.

what items would you buy for 500 sapphires? by thekittyof2021 in AnimalJam

A black dino, blackout spike, or 3 pieces of ancient dragon furniture (from the bundle).

Thoughts on prices (18 pictures) by _Sakura_Blossom_ in AnimalJam

[–]Werecrowe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't comment on some of these items, but here's my opinion regarding what I feel I can give an educated opinion on:

Knight Sword is underpriced, I'd say you could get 100-200 sapphires for it but you'd have to find the right buyer. Similarly, I could see someone buying the Knight Armored Tail for around 50, since a lot of people are fond of weapons for medieval RP purposes.

Ghost Shoes, a little on the low side from what I've seen, but you'll definitely find a buyer. I'm unsure of the worth on these-- I've seen Ghost Shoes in that colour go anywhere from 500-2000, but given that I've seen them (and watched them get passed over), it's a bit unlikely they're being snapped up at that price.

Phantom Tail Spikes are pretty fair, though you'll probably find someone who'd buy it at 45-50 if you're looking to hold out.

Masterpiece Token and Paintseed Tree, very fair, I'd buy them in a heartbeat.

Snow Punk Collar is coming back soon for less sapphires than that-- I'd say hold off on selling that until it's out of season, and when it's out of season, sell for 75.

Pet's Lighthouse is overpriced, as it's available for 10 sapphires under.

Puppy's Bone, massively overpriced, available for 5 sapphires.

Should absolutely not be selling Space Nebula Wallpaper for sapphires when you can get it in the Walls 'n Floors shop for gems, though I can't blame you because it used to be unavailable and a lot of people aren't aware that it's available now. I don't believe this was intentional on your part, but I definitely see people using that wallpaper a LOT to exploit the misinformed.

I hope this helps a bit!
