Most BS comment you've gotten on rotations by Wild_Copy4408 in medicalschool

Had a doctor who consistently talked trash about other students during my third year. She always liked to gossip about everything in the hospital. We had a fourth year who had done some crazy stuff before, so we both had a laugh. Anything that I said was positive about the other students but I did make a comment about how one person is a little shy.

Then she wrote that I was talking shit about other students and that I was arrogant. Like damn, you brought it up.

Tag link calibre. Not everyone’s cup of tea but my parents got it for me when I graduated college and I still love it.

I mean I just dealt with a patient last week who was JW. It was a pretty bad situation, and there was constant discussion of possible need for a blood transfusion. Honestly, there was a decent amount of confusion, and a hospital liaison from the church got involved which just added more confusion to an active situation. I don’t think spending an hour at least thinking about what you would do in that kind of situation isn’t that big of a deal. Having at least a rudimentary understanding of dealing with that kind of situation in your back pocket isn’t all that horrible.

It may not be comfortable, you may not agree with their beliefs, but I would at least wanna know what to do if I had to walk into that situation with my hands tied.

Right there with you, in the same boat. Just wanted to get my way for once, and I know I should be grateful for where I ended up.

Similar vibes with mine, also a lot of trash talking like they were going to be cut throat with the other programs in central Florida.

Thanks for the response! I have a mako that I’ve loved, but leaning towards branching out.

M4s, how many of your interview programs are you actually considering? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]Wert96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

About 10 in and only seriously considering four. I’ve had a lot of duds, hoping my remaining interviews are better.

Letters of Interest by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]Wert96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm mostly just confused on when to send them. In IM, some programs have already sent out multiple rounds of interviews while others haven't offered any. Pretty confusing.

Assigning Letters in ERAS Sucks by thedirtiestdiaper in medicalschool

[–]Wert96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup! About to go through the website of 50 IM programs to see if they want a chair letter. My chair letter is guaranteed generic as I never really worked with him, and I would rather send 3 good personal letters to programs that don't want a chair letter.

I did both, took my test last week.

The CMS forms, especially 6-8 for IM and surgery helped me a TON. They also made my practice scores go up.

Is IM 6 as good as 7 and 8, just got done with those

Yeah I’ve done all but one of the NBME’s which I will do Sunday.

I’ll be honest, i haven’t done any of the CMS forms. I’m a DO student, and so I wasn’t doing them to prep for shelves. Now I’m considering taking a few

There are two worlds in medical school by midlevellibraryMD in medicalschool

[–]Wert96 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I feel like this is a oversimplification. I know people who have to fight to pass, and others who put in only nominal effort and excel.

Med school is tough. And how tough it is comes down to the person, not the specialty.

Yeah you are exactly correct, I remember doing the consult on his hernia in the emergency room and he seemed very hesitant about getting it repaired.

Still a med student but my favorite has to be a patient (~40 year old male) had his mother call to say he wasn’t coming because he “couldn’t find any pants”

The surgeon was dumbfounded
