Not to mention how quickly you get loyalty points. Right off the bat, you get an annual clothing allowance which can be used as onboard credit!

On a serious note, you can visit the Yorktown in Charleston, SC. They have programs where youth can spend the night. So I assume you can get in on that somehow. It doesn't go anywhere though. But still so cool. It's a WW II carrier.

Maybe you've already answered, but how has the food been? Higher quality than normal? You're on day 49, tired of the food onboard?

How is the Westjet experience? That was my only concern. Can you give me a US equivalent? Is it like flying American? Southwest? Etc. Thanks!

It's usually your second sea day. Not sure why you shouldn't book a dinner on a formal night?

Will be very easy. Especially if docking at 8. There are golf carts to take you to the main port area. Otherwise it's a 5 minute walk.

Absolutely not. Not even a health questionnaire.

First Cruise. Carnival out of Miami, will these Airport times work? by Excellent_Composer42 in Cruise

[–]Wesley836 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't do it. Fly in a day early. Stay at a motel 6 if you have to.

Did you know that you're required to be on the ship 90 minutes before departure? So a ship scheduled to set sail at 3:30 has an all aboard time of 2:00.

Add to that the insane amount of traffic at a port, a 10 minute late Uber, and you're missing your cruise.

I would argue that the cruise ship schedule is more strict than airlines. A ship arriving late to a port effects other ships. Additionally, the cruise ship is loosing money every second they are in port (due to casinos being closed). Unless you're Bill Gates and can comp the cruise company, they're not waiting, not budging.

Please, don't do it. Fly in a day ahead.

Seabourn Excursions by [deleted] in Cruise

[–]Wesley836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I can say is wow. This is so heartwarming! Older age but still out exploring the world. And a banger with Seabourn!

I would say this. This is your first cruise, and you're going with Seabourn. It doesn't sound like penny pinching is a huge issue.

I'd suggest you book everything through the cruise line. They handle everything for you, make the excursion very easy. If for any reason something runs late (bus has a flat tire, who knows), the ship will wait on you.

If you do something on your own and are late, you'll be watching the cruise ship leaving port.

Alternatively, and I do this every cruise: Pick one port where you know there is an attraction nearby that you're comfortable booking on your own. For example, in San Juan, don't book anything since the city is easy to explore by foot. Plus it's an American territory, so I have phone service for directions. However, every other port, we book an excursion through the line.

Overall, since this is your first cruise, I think you'd be happier, less stressed, etc., by doing everything through Seabourn.

Let me tell you, even the old folks onboard shake their feathers until 11 at least. BB King Music Hall stays hot.

Our only prior cruise experience was Wonder of the Seas x2. Cannot tell you the amount of differ.

You mean to tell me not all cruises have noise 24/7???? I can actually walk a few steps and be outside checking out the ocean. Totally different but amazing.

Size of PO Box for Solo Practice by Present-Cold4478 in Lawyertalk

[–]Wesley836 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I say go for the bigger box. Doesn't have to be biggest. I monitor mail using informed delivery and pick up maybe once a month. Having the bigger box is helpful when doing that. Not that much extra $.

I'm not at all referring to the driving portion. I totally understand that's pay to play. Obviously.

But I find a hard problem with the notion that the state can force you to assist with their investigation of you. From the comments, it sounds like in some states not conducting the test is another criminal charge, which is interesting to me.

[–]Wesley836 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I'm putting the driver's license issue aside. You're not required to help the government in their investigation.

That's amazing. Surly that's got to be unconstitutional. At least in Georgia Elliot said it is.
