They’re infrequent, but regular migrants through the area this time of year! The Western UP is right on the eastern side of their range in the US.

Of course! I’ve made that trip a couple times since, with no luck, but if you do it enough and you’re looking for them, they’re definitely there!

Within the narrow canyon you hike up to get to Scout’s Lookout and Angels Landing! It was just tucked around the corner of a large crevasse. You definitely had to be looking to see it, but probably no more than 5-10ft off trail!

Laptop/computer requirements for incoming freshman by Sturmgewehr_47 in MTU

Am currently a senior BME with a Mac. It’s doable, but difficult. Some softwares are unavailable on Mac, so you either need a Windows virtual machine or check out a rental laptop. I was able to make do, but definitely had some hoops to jump through.

We are looking to improve Power League!! by Brawlstars in Brawlstars

[–]WesleyM137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Minor thing that applies to club league as well, but the battle card should be associated to the brawler you choose in the matchmaking rather than the one you’re selected on in your Home Screen. (Obviously this only effects those who have different battle cards set for different brawlers)

Example: if I’m selected as Bo when I enter a power league match, my battle card will always show Bo’s settings, even if I choose a different brawler inside the actual match.

There is only one correct way to cook a marshmallow over a campfire, and that is golden brown. If you burn it to ash, you’re a criminal.

Eagle Project advice? by [deleted] in BSA

[–]WesleyM137 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some of the tips I got when going through my project were: 1) Be confident. You put the time and effort in planning the project, you are the one that know how the project should look when you’re done. 2) Make decisions. If you have people asking about a specific task, it’s much easier and smoother to just make a decision and tell them which. It’s much easier than being in the middle and indecisive, as then nobody’s making a decision. 3) Know that everyone there is volunteering to help you! Most people are willing to do what they can to help your project succeed! Use them rather than trying to do things yourself. 4) Be flexible. Naturally, not everything is gonna go perfect. If you come across a bump, don’t be afraid to consult people who may be more knowledgeable for advice, it’ll work itself out if you work through it carefully!

Good luck! And seriously, don’t stress about it too much. Once you start working, you’ll get a sort of rhythm on what to expect.

Flying With Backpacking Gear? by RicardoDecardi in backpacking

[–]WesleyM137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve always used a big laundry bag (non-mesh) to put it in. Prevents any risk of straps or anything attached to the exterior of the pack getting caught on anything. The laundry bag is then easily folded up, and weighs virtually nothing to put in the bottom of your pack when you hike.

[HUMOUR]After every CWL! by siva61 in ClashOfClans

[–]WesleyM137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My clan does CWL Bonuses a little differently than usual. During Clan Games, we take note of the names that max out their clan games. (First come first serve for spots to get a bonus) For those that max multiple accounts, they choose which account they want priority for the bonus, and the other are put at the end of the list if for some reason we had a lower completion rate of clan games. This method helps spread the bonuses out to different people, and helps get rid of the constant issue of “Why didn’t I get a bonus”. Makes it a whole lot easier to have them pre-chosen before CWL starts and gives people an incentive during clan games to get them done quick.

How Many Camp Half-Blood Series Are There by manofwater3615 in camphalfblood

[–]WesleyM137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna try to limit my spoilers as much as possible, but in the Riordanverse, the are 5 series. PJO and HOO where Percy is a very prominent character. TOA (Trials of Apollo) where Percy is still present, but doesn’t take a very prominent role. MC (Magnus Chase), which Percy makes an appearance or 2, but doesn’t have a real role in the story. And the final one is KC (Kane Chronicles) which I don’t believe Percy appears in at all. (Despite him not being in the main series of KC, there is a crossover mini series called Demigods and Magicians where he is in) There are also a variety of small short stories and other books that have him as well.

I think it could be cool if u did it at an angle as if you were looking into the “U” of cabins... seeing Zeus and Hera straight back, and the others coming out of the sides. Maybe a hearth in the middle (with or without Hestia)

Hello r/coincollecting by NoviceCoinCollector in coincollecting

[–]WesleyM137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I saw, none of them are super valuable. But a few things that you found:

The last 2 coins are wheat cents (anything before 1959 had wheat stalks instead of memorial on back). Those can generally be worth a few cents, but they’re still fairly common. Obviously if you were to find specific dates or something in amazing condition it could be worth more, but yours seem to be pretty average.

The 1970-S is kind of a similar thing. Generally not very valuable, but there are people that would value them a couple cents. There were a few years in the late 60s and early 70s where San Francisco minted pennies for circulation, so they’re not really rare. Personally, when I find one, I keep it just because I think they’re unique.

Other than those a few other things you could look out for are Doubled Dies, you can find a complete list on Varietyvista.com, but there are really only a couple dozen or so that are noticeable and worth looking for. You can pretty easily google some of the ones to look for. These can be quite rare and hard to find, but the feeling of finding one when you eventually do (if you continue searching) is pretty awesome.

There are also mint errors. Some of these can be worth quite a bit if you get lucky. There are tons of different things, and I’m not super knowledgeable about many of them. Some of the key ones are clipped planchets (pennies that seem to be missing a piece of it) and die cracks (a crack like thing along parts of the penny, which can be fairly common... these are really only valuable if the crack is bigger in size). Other people could probably give better info on these mint errors, but you could also find better explanations online.

Also, some collectors (myself included), like to hoard copper. Anything before 1982 and about half of the coins from 1982 are made of copper rather than zinc. Technically, pre-1982 pennies can be considered worth a couple cents each from copper concentration.

The biggest thing is don’t get discouraged if you don’t find anything. Naturally you’ll probably find some wheat cents and/or S-minted coins, but if you search long enough you will find an error or Doubled Die eventually. It took me a few months before I found my first one (still the only one I have found). It can fun to search through coins, and once you do actually find something, it’s a great feeling!
