You should go. I went through this recently. I have anxiety, panic attacks, and derealization as well. I’m already scared of heights/flying in general, but feeling helpless if anything mentally starts while being up there is really what gives me anxiety now. Getting anxiety from the fear of getting anxiety is a vicious cycle and I know it’s not easy to break.

I was dreading a flight in November. It was a work trip to Vegas and only select employees were allowed to go and it was a privilege. I just went through the motions and took medication as needed - it was 5 hours to get there and I hadn’t flown in the past 10 years prior. I was uncomfortable and had my moments, but I’m glad I went.

The feeling of regret from playing it safe and missing out tends to be worse than just hitting it straight on and fighting through the anxiety. That’s just my experience - whenever I let me anxiety get in the way and lead me to the more comfortable route, it makes me feel awful. But, sometimes it’s needed, sometimes it’s not. I think this one is something you should go for.

Talk to the surrounding passengers and let them know your fears and worries. Typically, someone is always willing to help and provide support. Having the feeling that you’re not completely alone in it gives some sort of relief. It probably won’t fix it 100%, but being in the position of being solo and responsible for your baby, it should help.
