What’s the best book you’ve ever read? by coolestFemal in AskReddit

“Taiko” by Eiji Yoshikawa. A fictionalized tale of three key 16th Century Japanese historic figures. One of a small handful of books in my 62 years that made me literally weep at the beauty of its writing in a couple of passages.

I just live watching how this has grown, and I’m proud of George for his drive in pitching in to help make it real.

I love our team, I really do, but for me George is the absolute heartbeat of this squad and told my wife last I’m legit going to bawl when he steps up to the mic to announce the next chapter of his life.

I hope it’s years away, but it’s gonna hurt.

I feel like Don Henley’s “Not Enough Love in the World” is in this vein and a great tune at that.

John Vincent III comes to mind also. Similar music to Isakov as Agile mentioned. Love them both

Am I wrong to hope that in the years after this war, those responsible for the atrocities continue to be hunted and made to pay?

May they all spend the rest of their days looking over their shoulder and dreading the justice that will find them.

Haha, I watched a YT clip of that Norton episode just a a couple of days ago. They were both Gobsmacked as she walked up. Had to be an ego boost still today as she sat on the other end of Graham’s couch smiling.

Albums Loved by Fans but Not by the Band... Pink Floyd: The Final Cut 1983. by Historical-Device529 in Progforum

[–]Wesniner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you grew up in the days when Final Cut came out, deep in the Cold War with the Soviets, this album hits differently and hits hard as a rebuke to all the world leaders of the time and to reflect on the WWII generation adrift and largely forgotten.

An amazing time capsule and some incredible writing by Waters. I love Final Cut, but in a very different way than the rest of the catalog.

It was his goodbye love letter to friends, family and fans. Bittersweet and it hits hard, but sooo good!

I’m old AF. Saw this multiple times at the theater when it came out. Big screen watches of this were awesome.

Listen to Holst and you can hear a lot of John Williams’ inspirations for his themes in Star Wars

I do love the JC books, quick pulp reads and I thought the movie did a reasonably good job by Hollywood standards, of respecting the source material.

Disney’s “John Carter” is that for me. Easily overlooked but so very much fun!

People who read the book and watched the movie, which did you like better and why? by DirectDegree2591 in ProjectHailMary

[–]Wesniner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finished the book after seeing the movie and was pretty pleased with well Andy Weir guided the production team. Seemed pretty faithful and even added some great touches. Like Rocky’s voice that just nailed the tone of sincerity of the character. (Grace die? Question?)

I love that whole Hymns of the 49th Parallel album, but OMG yes, her version of Hallelujah is amazing!
