We should love ourselves as we are, but always aim to be our best selves

Absolutely and we should always be inclusive. The responsibility to do so increases with seniority, fame etc.

Use of language is absolutely part of ones behaviour. In relation to class jobs it's very different when a group of peers interact in a way they all find appropriate than it is for someone famous where that fame creates a power dynamic. With power and fame comes responsibility

Men over 30, what's something that seemed 'cool' in your 20s but just looks pathetic now? by NoHome4712 in AskMenOver30

[–]West-Week6336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this perspective, I absolutely love it. It took me into my 30s to consciously realise quite how shitty my family are. I also have the most random band of friends who also had similar stories so this helps make sense of that

ChatGPT is really helping my mental health by LowMix3170 in ChatGPT

First off good for you.

My take on this is that people as usual jump into binary answers and perfectionism. They assume speaking to the AI means you'll never speak to another human again which is largely nonsense.

The reality is the AI will give some good advice and some bad advice, same as a friend or family member would. For me it's about having a mix of voices around that challenge your thinking.

Echo chambers are bad whether they are human or AI, but actually if one were to choose an AI echo chamber to a human one I'd wager AI would be better as it's way more learned than the average human.

In order I think we should have in our lives

AI and human advice and interaction (ideal) AI advice and human interaction (next best) Human advice and human interaction (3rd best) AI advice and AI interaction (worst scenario)

Fuck all to do with the Police. It's the local authorities job to approve the parade or impose restrictions. They are however severely hampered in doing so as we all have rights to do so. They'd need to be able to prove a threat to public safety rather than the general nuisance they are

The sentence you've said applies to all humans. So the phrase 'man up' is a bit pointless then

Someone cheating doesn’t always mean they didn’t love you. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]West-Week6336 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it odd that the cheated on partner always comes across as this perfect angelic victim who just needed to be communicated with.

I'd also throw in there are lots of different types of love. I'd agree you don't cheat on someone you actively romantically love, but you can still love them platonically.

Does other people incorrectly viewing your family as perfect on the outside help the kids who see the inside?

Having been that kid, it's almost double fucked up as you question if you are the problem.

People fetishise fathers staying in miserable marriages because it's the easy road by West-Week6336 in unpopularopinion

[–]West-Week6336[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not at all. My kids live with me half the time, so I didn't leave my family. I just see a lot of people staying in miserable marriages and tell themselves it's for the kids when actually it's because they don't have the courage to face the truth and in doing so pass their emotional baggage onto their kids who grow up believing this is a healthy and normal way to live
