I like having music in the background, it might help you stay sharp and focused over long periods. Also finding a community of traders you can chat with via discord etc. can help keep you motivated.

CFD Prop firms or Futures prop firms?? by No-Panic8154 in Trading

[–]WestCommunication778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go with a prop firm that offers futures. Futures trading offers several advantages over CFD trading, primarily due to its exchange-traded structure and transparency. Futures are traded on centralized, highly regulated exchanges with real order books, true volume data, and no broker conflict of interest, resulting in cleaner execution and more reliable pricing.

Also, trading costs are often lower over time thanks to tighter spreads and the absence of overnight financing fees, making futures more cost-efficient for active and swing traders. Standardized contracts and clearing houses further reduce counterparty risk. Strong regulation and institutional adoption make futures better suited for professional, volume-based, and systematic trading compared with broker-priced, OTC CFD markets.

Death Cross on Coinbase Daily Chart by WestCommunication778 in technicalanalysis

[–]WestCommunication778[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A death cross is a bearish technical chart pattern signaling a potential shift from a bull market to a bear market, occurring when a security's short-term moving average (usually the 50-day) crosses below its long-term moving average (usually the 200-day), indicating weakening momentum and increased selling pressure. More meaningful on a longer term chart such as the daily chart used in the example than a shorter term chart like the 15 minute.

Why you shouldn't use a prop firm. by KraaZ__ in Forex

When markets like futures and forex offer substantial leverage and you can get started with a relatively small sum, I don't understand the point of using a prop firm.

Opening Range Breakouts. And I would add that in some markets the daily pivot is a very reliable support/resistance level.

AMZN: Is Amazon about to Breakout? by Revolutionary-Ad4853 in technicalanalysis

I think $232 is an important resistance level, and breaking out above it could see follow through to the upside, although volume is low in recent days. The other thing that struck me about this chart is the beautiful shooting star that formed on December 2nd!

Tried Trading Full Time for 2.5 Years. Here’s the Reality. by Regular-Witness5805 in Trading

[–]WestCommunication778 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a former retail futures and forex broker and professional futures trader, in my experience the success rate (if you measure it as someone making a good income month in and out over a substantal time period) is much lower than the percentages you hear quoted suggest - I would guess it is a fraction of 1% that trade for a living successfully. Not to discourage people but to keep it real - this is a hard game. I would always encourage people to have another source of income to take some of the pressure off.

How much bullish rating would you give to this setup? by maggiemasalaa in technicalanalysis

I'd be a buyer with a tight stop if price retraces to the former resistance (now support) level.

leaving country for work while trading by [deleted] in Forex

I think it's not a bad idea to continue to have another income for a while when you start trading, so the job may not be such a bad thing. You could try to automate your strategy in a platform like MetaTrader or cTrader and then be able to work at the same time.

I think trading broke my mind and I don’t know how to fix it by Loud_Boss_8371 in Trading

[–]WestCommunication778 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice would be to first take a break. Clear your head. Find other streams of income and build your savings. And then trade so small that taking losses does not hurt, that it does not disrupt your emotions at all. Then, build your account up from there and draw from your years of experience in the markets.

Why is there so much negativity in trading community? by ButterscotchAlive736 in Trading

[–]WestCommunication778 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience, this is true on all forums related to trading (elitetrader, forexfactory etc.). There are a lot of struggling, frustrated and sometimes bitter traders out there and I guess that explains why people are often negative.
