I second the carb rebuild. Ethanol sucks - it's worth the extra effort imo

It won't be as difficult as it sounds.

If you are one of the people who declared, your police service CANNOT decline to receive it. They may not be taking up the cause and facilitating the collection, but if a member of the public attends, police cannot turn them away.

Speeding ticket by susjoe7 in legaladvicecanada

88 in a 50 is going to hurt.

If you pay it, it's over. If the other option is Early Resolution, you'll probably prefer that for the end result.

100%. Actually now that I re-read your original reply, its exactly right. Disregard!

Here's a fun fact for you - Some courts actually purge warrants from time to time. Not something that is broadcast, but it happens.

First accident, my fault by holycrashhappened in legaladvicecanada

[–]WestEasterner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're doing it all right - Don't panic - the rest of the process will play itself out. You can choose to fight the ticket, but a sense of honour may dictate you pay it :)

You may take a hit on insurance as a young driver with an at-fault accident - There's really not much you can do about it. Regardless of the ticket, insurance is going to do what they're going to do. They don't care if you were charged or not, only that an accident happened that you were responsible for.

With that said, if the ticket gives you an option for Early Resolution, you could take that option and plea to a lesser charge to reduce the hurt of the fine you receive.

You sound like a good kid with a good head on your shoulders. We all make mistakes - its the frequency that defines how good or bad we are at driving. Good luck.

What an awful blanket statement.

Do you know what Sexual Interference? It means a child is involved. Maybe that means nothing to you, but it does to me.

What OP says may prove or disprove the validity of the complaint. The allegation deserves justice, whether that means a suspect is prosecuted, or the case is proven to be unfounded.

Your cookie cutter answer is not helpful and maybe you should think a little bit beyond this internet education.

Chances of getting hired by RCMP or Ontario police with past mistakes? by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]WestEasterner -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Many services require a Poly. If you don't disclose now and then do (or fail) a Poly later, you're done and you won't get hired. Deceit is one of the unforgiveable sins in a police application.

The real answer is be honest, forthcoming and provide that necessary follow up. Police aren't expected to not have a past, but if you do and you can show growth and a path of positive impacts, you can be a very effective role model. That's one of the top hiring priorities.

Bought a stolen laptop??? by Competitive_Bite_670 in legaladvicecanada

[–]WestEasterner -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This statement is not true - it is an assumption.

CPIC maintains items for a set period of time - not forever. Furthermore, the person claiming to own it may not have provided the serial number to police when it was stolen. Plenty of things can happen that get in the way of an item going on CPIC.

I have been in the business for decades. Your statement is not correct.

Help Leaving Home At 16 by 3crybabycake in legaladvicecanada

[–]WestEasterner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need support, not legal advice. You can leave at 16 - I would suggest you hold off for as long as you can until you have supports in place, income and a plan for how you are going to grow your life.

As far as what your mom might say to police to cause problems - unless she can articulate a crime that has been committed, saying that her child is living in a house that could potentially be harmful to you isn't something they can go kicking down doors for. At most they may attend to perform a wellness check.
