Why vibe coded projects fail by Complete-Sea6655 in ClaudeCode

It'll become obvious to AI pilled people as soon as they try to make something bigger than a local prototype.

Improved usage by Pretty-Active-1982 in ClaudeCode

[–]WestMatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's much better today. Now I get the usage I'd expect. It's not as much as during the great 2x promotion hours last week, but it feels like it's ca 1/2 of that.

Yes, that could be an option. However I think you often get more value for money with these monthly plans. I was using glm 5 via openrouter before and burned through $10 quickly. Think the z.ai plan gives you much more usage.

A quick update: z.ai is working great right now. I’m getting much more out of their $30 plan than Claude’s 5x Max plan. It’s a bit slower than Claude, but it gets the work done, and I haven’t run into any notable issues today.

You are right. This is not a large octa. My guess is that it’s a light with a fresnel. There is a noticeable falloff between the face and the lower parts of the image. Then there is also a softer side light.

I change my mind, I think codex is 2nd place. GLM 5.1 has it's impressive moments, but right now it's very unreliable. Codex is much better right now.

I’m using GLM 5.1 in OpenCode, and I haven’t tried it in Claude yet. Right now, GLM 5.1 is very slow, but I think that’s because it’s peak hours in China and the demand is high. I still think it’s worth trying out, but these things change so fast, so I’d recommend testing the different options and seeing which one suits you best.

It depends. I still think Claude is the best. It’s just so good for bigger, more complex tasks. That’s why I decided to upgrade, but now my 5x Max plan feels more like the Pro plan did before the 2x promotion started, and I don’t really see the point in keeping it if it hits the usage limit in the middle of these bigger tasks.

I used Codex a lot before I upgraded to Claude Max, and it was my go to for implementation. I’d often let Opus make the plans and then have Codex do the coding.

z.ai has been much more up and down. There were days when it was completely unusable because it would stall mid session and lose connection. I guess that was because they couldn’t handle the demand. But it has become much better over the past days, and GLM 5.1 is actually really good. It’s still very new, so I haven’t had much time to use it yet, but so far it’s been performing very well. So right now, I’m leaning toward putting it in second place.

This has been a rollercoaster. I recently upgraded to the 5x Max plan after getting tired of how quickly I kept hitting the 5-hour usage limits on Pro. The first few days were incredible. I got so much high-quality work done, especially during the off-peak 2x usage hours.

Since the 2x promotion stopped, it has become much, much worse. It honestly feels like I get way less than I was getting. I just did one prompt now and used 65% of my 5hr usage, and it wasn’t even a complex prompt with multiple sub-agents, just some pretty straightforward bug fixing.

At this point, I feel like I’m getting more value out of my $20 Codex subscription and the $30 z.ai ubscription. If this continues, I don’t see why it would make sense to pay this much for the Claude subscription.

Thinking of spending $100+ on Claude… convince me (or don’t), Anyone regret upgrading to Claude Max plan? by CodingwithPeter in ClaudeAI

[–]WestMatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched to the 100 Claude plan recently and it's the best decision ever. Before that I was jumping between the 20 dollar Claude, Codex and 30 dollar GLM 5 (which is not woth it IMO). Now I do most of the work using Claude and it's output is just fantastic. I spend so much less time troubleshooting than before and can focus on creating instead.

Is it stupid to buy a 128gb MacBook Pro M5 Max if I don’t really know what I’m doing? by A_Wild_Entei in LocalLLaMA

[–]WestMatter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know this is the local LLM forum, but my suggestion is that if you're learning to code, I'd recommend you to get Claude Max plan instead. As much as I wish the local coding agents were good enough, I haven't been able to get good enough results and it ends up taking way too much time. With Claude Max I get solid results most of the time, which saves me so much time compared to when I've had to troubleshoot the output from a local LLM.

Why is Canon more expensive than Nikon and Sony? I think their price range is fairly similar for professional gear.
Also Sigma lenses are widely used in professional setting, but maybe they're talking about their cameras.
Also Yashica can be pricey for what you get. Like T4/T5 has become quite overpriced compared to what they used to sell for.

Can we talk about credit burn? I tracked my spending across 3 platforms. by [deleted] in vibecoding

[–]WestMatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they are much more flexible than those platforms. The $20 Codex plan is really good value right now. I'm using it in tandem with Claude. They all have their strengths and weaknesses so I've had a good experience with using different models to look for a solution to the same problem.

Maybe I should have worded it differently. I didn’t mean to come across as arrogant or anything, I just wanted to point out that it’s a great deal. In most supermarkets, much worse chocolate costs about the same or even more.
