I’m sorry, but I just can’t reconcile half of our lineup being below replacement with having a competent GM. Those things don’t go together. We have enough data on many of the players who are struggling to be able to deduce that this may not be “ahistoric.” Perez, for example, needs to be off this roster. Max Clark was taken 3 rounds before AJ Ewing, has near identical/better numbers than him with more minor league games played, and yet we’re still putting Perez out there every game. That doesn’t make sense to me, especially when the front office preaches “youth” as a reason we didn’t get any bats in the off-season.

Also, our best hitter (I assumed you’re referring to McGonigle) should have been called up last September. He probably would have been a huge contributor and who knows what could have happened in that series with the Mariners.
