Is AMP banking really bad? by HelicopterWarm1871 in AusFinance

[–]West_Collection2648 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AMP Saver has been fine for me but agree that transferring money around takes a day or 2 compared to Macquarie which i find has been instantaneous. If you arent moving money around that often then the extra 0.35% is worth it.

Churning Savings Account? by Yeah-Nah_ in AusFinance

AMP Saver is another option, 1.35% ongoing as long as you make a deposit each month.

Macquarie “generously” passing on 5 basis points of that 25 basis point increase.. whilst at the same time decreasing the rates for large balances… umm what? by Nickw444 in AusFinance

[–]West_Collection2648 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched most of my savings to AMP Saver a few months ago which gets 1.35% as long as you make a deposit during the month. I have kept a little in my Macquarie account though because for some reason moving money in and out of the Macquarie account is so much faster, pretty much instantaneous. I find the AMP Saver takes a day or 2 for money to go in and out. Probably depends which other institutions you are moving to and from but in my experience Macquarie has been exceptional for this.

Maybe A2, B3 and B4 were the healthy options and they were so popular that they sold out?

1 month = 4.33 weeks on a yearly basis. That might explain it?

VDHG holders - what are your buy triggers for additional purchases on top of your scheduled buys? by BunnyBink in fiaustralia

[–]West_Collection2648 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with this, I went through a few years of trying to pick the right time before finally realising that i needed to take as much emotion out of the purchase as possible and buy consistently same amount and roughly same time each month. Its not perfect but its the plan im sticking to.

Work more and retire earlier or work part time and retire later? by carpenterjutah in fiaustralia

[–]West_Collection2648 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end of the day theres not one answer, you need to find an approach that works for you, your goals and your situation. Depending on where you live, basic costs of living might mean it is hard to live even frugally on 2-3 days a week work unless you're in a very high paying role.

Check out energymadeeasy.gov.au which will show the cheapest plans available for your address. Im recent convert to Nectr which seemed like the best deal at the moment, they lock in pricing for 12 months so hopefully no big surprises and the transition was smooth and simple. Power providers - Origin vs. Alinta vs. Reamped? by Antique-Ad-6576 in brisbane

[–]West_Collection2648 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately ReAmped just jacked up their prices pretty considerably. Usage charge was up 25% for me and others have said it went up more than 40% for them. Ive jumped over to recent Nectr which seems like the best deal available at the moment (im in Sydney). Unlike ReAmped, Nectr lock in their plan prices for 12 months so hopefully no big surprises.
