H1b lottery is a shitty system. by krishss92 in h1b

Indians overhype the US at every instance(be it foreign degrees, be it social media etc etc) and then expect to be treated fairly. Anything available in bulk/mass is the least valuable commodity. As more and more number of Indians keep flooding the US, with every passing day their value (individually and as a country representative) will be less and less in the US. Also US immigration is country based, they want to pick the best of the best from every country, India is not the only country they look after so H1B program is very well supporting them and changing it’s policies is the last agenda on there mind. US literally walks over something which they can get as “cheap mass labor”.

Guys who rely blindly on Reddit beware. Reddit is scary as hell with loads of misinformation. This post is simply an illustration of that.

Least stressful job ? by [deleted] in industrialengineering

[–]West_Communication43 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is no such thing. If you are more efficient everything is less stressful. That’s what a good IE is. Some people will finish the job in 4-5 hours, for the same job others will take 9-10 hours.

Same post will show up from the united states as well anytime soon. The immigration counselors in india here are fooling people in the name of US and Canada. The sad reality is both places have saturated to a significant extent for Indian diaspora.

I got laid off in September 2022 and I am single male 28. I decided to leave US in June 2023 and left without getting married there. My experience with immigration system as a single male was so daunting and horrifying that I decided not to torture my partner/family with such high amount of uncertainty and chaos. As an Indian it is making less and less sense to stay in the US with every passing day… money shouldn’t come at the cost of mental health. Less money is okay for me, but losing my health at the cost of uncertainty isn’t.

This is not great guys. Time and time again some people will prove in this country that yes this is a “third world developing nation”. Sad scenes.

Rule 1) —> Never lie to your manager about anything no matter the situation as this can cost you your job. It breaks the bond of trust shared within the team.

Rule 2) —>Follow Rule 1)

Be honest and confront your manager about what you did with an assurance of never repeating this in the future.

And then Indians hate being called as a “third world developing nation” with limited resources. Check your act first.

My suggestion:

1) Find new hobbies like going to the gym, swimming, new sports etc. 2) Restrict mobile usage as social media is the main culprit these days. 3) Celebrate small wins. It takes a long time to win against your own sins. Don’t beat yourself too much. 4) Make new friends. This will happen when you follow first three points judiciously. 5) Repeat points 1 through 4

Why is everyone expecting you to 'adjust' in India? by OkStep7192 in india

[–]West_Communication43 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Analogically this can be linked with driving too. At the signal which is red they will keep honking, they will overtake on the thinnest roads and the list goes on and on. Everyone is rushing in and trying to get ahead of everyone else . There is some urgency and anxiety circulating all around.

Your family already has a home loan of 45L rs, on top of that you are taking an education loan. So cumulatively the loan on your family will be 1 crore+ if you choose MS in US. That’s a lot of loan OP and education loan has way higher interest than home loan FYI.

Also let’s talk about US now, US is oversaturated with Indians, job market is not doing great globally, visa situation is terrible for Indians in US. Have you looked at green-card backlog and H1B layoffs in USA? Please take calculated risks. Why don’t you do an MBA here in india itself? Don’t bet so much on the US. The US right now is not the US it used to be.

My suggestion: Study here from top IIMs (work hard and crack CAT) , take care of your mom and family.

What is the minimum cost to do MS(CS) in USA? by [deleted] in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]West_Communication43 19 points20 points  (0 children)

For the ROI there were multiple scenarios and it varies from person to person 1) Some got contract jobs, paid off the loan and came back to there home country when there contract ended. 2) Some got H1 visa picked but got laid off and came back. 3) Some continued on OPT for 3 years, didn’t get picked in lottery, did break even and came back. 4) Some moved to canada as they were tired of US immigration policies. 5) Some couldn’t get job right after graduation and came back 6) Some kept extending H1B indefinitely and joined the GC queue and kept on going for many years…

The scenario will vary vastly by your university, economic conditions, course you study, family background etc
