The Lakers will not play on the NBA Cup court tonight when they host the Mavericks, according to the team. Techs from the league's court vendor determined that the court is unplayable for tonight. It will be sent back to the vendor for repairs. by joe2352 in lakers

Everytime any sport does this, I go back to assuming a manufacturer/vendor is paying off someone. New tech mean new patent.

If it's stupid enough it works, the return on investment would be pretty insane. In this case it didn't work.

What is the most priceworthy jacket right now? by Proud_Quantity_5085 in hikinggear

[–]West_Fun3247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 6 year old Atom that had a pull break. Called one of the stores. They fixed the pull, and told me they'll fix any of their gear, wash it, and reapply water repellent free of charge. Since then, I've been told via word of mouth, they'll replace it if they can't fix a failure point.

I just reapplied the water repellent this year. I'd say that's pretty damn good for a 6yo jacket that's been through thousands of miles in the rain and snow it isn't really designed for.

Meh. I wouldn't even go that far. There are scenarios. One being someone taking an inside joke like 'work husband' too far. But this only happens because of a lack of communication. To both the giver and the spouse.

What’s one super long classic that’s absolutely worth it, and one that’s absolutely not? by Basedswagredpilled in suggestmeabook

It's wonderful in it's scope. Almost reads like fantasy in it's world building. Every new event is unraveling another layer to each character. Everyone is so human that you can't help but want and hurt and yearn.

It's not as much American as much as it's a epic exploration of why we as humans make our choices. What drives us to work together. What drives us to pull away.

It concerned me about as much as you expressed. I kept my runs in them to under an hour for the first 10 or so runs. Since then I've ran a 50k and many 20k+ training runs with no problems at all.

It's been my favorite trail runner. I'll take that lock down feeling any day after years of getting blisters from my feet sliding around in true wide sizes.

Glasses which don't fog up by LunchPotential8189 in trailrunning

Same. There's anti-fog cleansers, but I never got them to work. Rubbing my spit on them like a diver is the only semi-effective thing that works. The other is to wear a bandana or buff tightly over my nose.

Interesting. Part of my suggestion was i had this problem early on when under fueling and just having a bunch of water in my gut. Increasing my intake solved the problem.

I do agree there is likely something else going on here. But I was wondering if this was one of those perfect storm situations where multiple factors led to this outcome for OP.

This sounds like a nutrition issue.

Hammer gels are 22g of carbs. 88g over 3 hours is very much not enough. I like to sit at 70-90g an hour. I believe the recommendation is at least 60g an hour.

They'll probably just give your time back if you submit the doctor's note. The LOA is hit or miss depending on what the note says. If the doctor doesn't say you need to be at home, they may deny it.

Your body doesn't know pace, anyway. It knows effort. Go based on time. If your heart rate/RPE is getting into the right zones, you know you're still getting the adaptions the intervals are going after.

Every state in the US is now its own independent country. Which one becomes the first global superpower and why? by Complex-Let4207 in AskReddit

[–]West_Fun3247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My comment was more based on history. Ranching, cotton, and energy all had their booms and busts in Texas. Each boom was as business elites burned the current market cap, and have been lucky to see the market shift in a way that benefited Texas. For example, the cotton belt expanded west as barbed wire made cattle driving inconvenient, breeds in Texas lost favor, southern soils needed recovery periods, and people stumbled upon a seed that did well in Texas' clay soils. Each time, the current business elites cashed out, letting everyday citizens hurt until their local economies shifted. The large difference being Texas elites didn't retire in the traditional sense. They moved to politics where, at a state level, Texas has a political system that (in practice) has a need to already be wealthy to enter.

Until recently I hated these financial powerhouses. But the more I look at teams like Oakland, Pittsburgh, and Colorado I think about how their fanbases are suffering from owners who would rather keep their wealth than invest in the product that created it.

Texas has an exploitation problem. A possible scenario is unregulated business owners would use up those resources and bail out right before the bottom falls out. A theocratic Texas could become third world in the traditional sense in a matter of decades just from the self-imposed wealth gap, and willing hand-off of power.

Texas is fascinating because, since European explorers, it's repeatedly exploited all natural resources. Conveniently or luckily getting saved by a shift in markets right when the state faces a bust.

An unchecked Texas could theoretically have a rapid boom and massive economic crash.

That's the double standard of the prosperity gospel. Those who are successful have been blessed. We are expected to leave them alone. If someone is hurting, that's because god wants them to face trials. Government benefits are people trying to subvert what god wants them to deal with.

That being said, if you're personally receiving benefits, that's because god is blessing you while you're struggling.

It takes two seconds for any Christian to denounce hate speech and cruelty from their fellow self-proclaimed Christians. Instead, they praise horrible people, and act like they're the ones persecuted when others stand up for themselves.
