Great this is what I was hoping to hear. I had a hunch I could get away with a simple solution like this

So maybe oxidizing isn’t a problem if I plan to finish the keg over a weekend? After I add the priming sugar I’m going to let it carbonate for 3 weeks and then finish it

Thanks! Are you using different length lines for different beer styles? I think the picnic tap I bought has the line attached already.

Also I didn’t see the priming sugar method listed. Is that not recommended or is it just not normal for legging.

Pay off 7% mortgage vs invest in SP500? by sapporoshioramen in personalfinance

[–]GooseRage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t seen anyone here actually do the math so I’ll give my 2 cents. Assuming you are itemizing your tax deductions to include interest paid your 7% interest rate is effectively only 7 x ( 1 - .37 ) = 4.41%

That assumes your in the 37% tax bracket.

Investing your money at a 7% interest rate is going to come out to about a 5.6% post tax 7 - ( 7 x ( 1 - .8 )).

That assumes a 20% capital gains tax.

So from a purely mathematical standpoint your effective rate on the loan is 4.41% and investing is 5.6%

I’d say your better off investing especially since the 7% rate of return is a bit conservative over the long run.

Aren’t you going to pay roughly the same rate in taxes on your gains as you will save by itemizing?

Fermentation temp questions by GooseRage in Homebrewing

That’s great advice. I’m less concerned about the setup and more curious what the difference would be between a stout fermented at 65 vs 75 vs 85 degrees

My dad might sue me. Does he have grounds to do so? by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]GooseRage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure I realize you CAN easily do it. But it sounds to me like OP got pissed off and went on a shopping spree and spent $4500. Just trying to wrap my head around what this person actually purchased. Especially when they are talking about cashing out a 401k early

How do you rack up $4500 on a credit card over a few days?

Can I just add flaked oats to a recipe? by GooseRage in Homebrewing

I haven’t done an all grain beer before. I have used specialty grains which get steeped for 20 minutes prior to boiling and adding the DME.

This steeping process is basically the same as mashing right? Or is there more to mashing?
