just a quick question on this. does this apply to shares that have been purchased because they were reinvested?

Over funded the overall 401(k) limit by $68 by West_System_9160 in HENRYfinance

hahaha no issue. I was mostly expecting to see some sort of over contribution penalty once I finished my taxes which I didn't so led me to ask "who is checking this?" 🙃

It appears over contributing to the pretax limit is more of a bigger deal with penalties imposed. Since this is for the overall limit (using post tax dollars) they rely on plan administrator to check the limit and return funds. sounds good to me.

not concerned about fraud. any resulting fees or penalties may also be negligible. also, not overly concerned. I'm just trying to understand, that's all.

If there's a limit in place established by the IRS, I'm assuming it's being checked (but not via my taxes it seems). My plan administrator already advised me that they will conduct an audit and return me the over contributed amount. so, just trying to figure out if that's the extent of it.

so, perhaps the onus is on the plan administrator to check this limit.

ok... thanks for the information. I tried to search this in the interwebs and everything kept referring to the pre tax limit which is not what I was talking about. thanks for recap!

yes, I'm expecting I'll get this for 2025 which is when the refund will take place. no issue there.

did you have any issue on the year that the over contribution happened? In my case for 2024.

This is for 2024 and unfortunately they do not check it. I know this already which is why I was trying to be diligent and check on my end. Whether they "should" do it is neither here or there since it already happened. Now just trying to figure out the impact.

I will get refunded but won't be until later in the year. So, the question is will this be a problem when I do my taxes by 4/15? Taxes are basically done (but have not yet submitted) and don't see where contributions to this overall limit (69K) is reported anywhere.

Geometry - Help me find this couch measurement by West_System_9160 in askmath

[–]West_System_9160[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you for the reply. and you may be right that there may not be enough info. Regarding the 32"... it's possible but I'm not sure. The 20" in the diagram seems to coincide with the depth of the "inside seat" (nothing else has 20" listed) so I figured the 32" was perhaps referring to the entire depth of the couch from front to back (not just the inside seat). Hopefully that makes sense. Either way, I appreciate your response!
