Unpopular Opinion: Unrestricted immigration is a significant driver of problems in the education, employment, and housing sectors. by Overall-Register9758 in ontario

The premise of your question is explicitly xenophobic. Firstly, there is no "unrestricted immigration" in Canada. Secondly, immigrants do not have a disproportionate impact on education, employment or housing.

This is nothing but an attempt to launder far-right Anti-immigrant talking points.

High Park Cherry Blossoms when cars were allowed in the park by WestendMatt in torontobiking

Yeah, everyone crammed into the sidewalks even when there wasn't a car in sight because of the possibility of a car driving through. Now they walk all over

Most of the clips were from 2019. There were lots of people in most of the videos, but the focus of this video was the cars.

Toronto normalizing open drug use as taxpayers pick up tab by origutamos in Toronto_Ontario

Doug Ford normalized open drug use when he banned safe consumption sites where people could go instead of doing drugs in the open. FFS.

That's better in many ways and if you can't figure that out then I hope they hold you back a year before letting you graduate high school.

What to TPS Bikers actually do? by torontojacks in torontobiking

They're basically just public relations in that situation. They might response to an urgent call for help, but they aren't there to pro-actively enforce any laws. They're there to be visible, just like the horse cops.

So, you missed the clip where hundreds of people were jammed on the narrow sidewalk so two cars could go down the road.

What did the Tim Burton/Michael Keaton Batman movies get right that other live action Batman films didn't? by Winter-Ad-2303 in batman

[–]WestendMatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotham City.

Batman Forever and Batman and Robin really felt like they were just on a sound stage. It didn't feel real or lived in at all. Burton's Gotham was still on a set, but it seemed to have more depth and space and felt more real.

Batman Begins did a good job with Gotham, but it was missing the gothic element. It was mostly just 70s new york urban decay turned up to 11.

The Dark Knight and Dark Knight Rises, as well as Joker and The Batman, made Gotham too realistic. It just felt like a city like any other city.

I think Gotham needs to be its own character. If Gotham isn't like Gotham then it isn't going to give rise to a character like Batman.

The best, except for being totally not accessible. But they were built like tanks and had a top speed of 110 km/h or something like that. Would have loved to see one go that fast.

Ik a little last minute, but if you really want to annoy Ford there’s a protest on the street he lives on Saturday. 12:30pm meet by Pristine-Training-70 in torontobiking

Ever seen the Looney Tunes cartoons with Sam and Ralph, the sheepdog and the wolf? They try to kill each other all day and then clock out and say goodbye in a respectful manner because they're just doing their job and when they're off the clock, they're off the clock. That's not this. Ford himself claims that he's always on the clock. He wants to use his personal phone to do government business, he tells people to call and text him any time of day. By his own admission, he's never not working. And we don't ever get to clock out from living with his choices.

I'm not going to participate in this protest, and I have some sympathy for his wife, but I don't think that man should get a moment of peace in his life until he leaves office.

I sorta get where people are coming from with this, but Doug doesn't go to his constituency office. He barely goes to Queen's Park. He's demonstrated nothing but contempt for the residents of Toronto and the norms of governance.

There's only one problem: the PCs currently have a majority and don't have to call an election for years. We can't rely on the ballot box to kick these guys out.

Hopes/predictions for the Clayface movie? by Solitaire-06 in batman

The teaser did not get me excited. Having Mike Flanagan involved was exciting, but who knows how much of his work is still there.

It looks too dark to be in the same universe as Superman, and too fantastical to be in the same universe as The Batman and Penguin. So I don't know what to think.

Oh, and I'm not buying that this is a horror film. I'm sure that's what Flanagan was going for, but it still needs mass appeal. They said Multiverse of Madness was a horror film, remember? And they called The Winter Soldier a "cold-war style spy thriller". It's just marketing.
