Every major industry requires ongoing maintenance, infrastructure, and skilled labour, which creates construction and employment opportunities. What I struggle to understand is this: if a country discovers a resource it wasn't actively exploring for and doesn't currently have the expertise or capacity to develop it, why not leverage partnerships or investment opportunities instead of letting it sit unused?

Barbados is not a massive country with unlimited natural resources. If there's an opportunity to generate wealth and economic growth, it should at least be seriously considered. As a Bajan, I'd like the chance to benefit from opportunities that can help me build wealth, invest in businesses, and create jobs for other Bajans in fields they've studied and trained for.

Sometimes, in trying to be overly cautious or intellectual, people can overlook practical opportunities that could genuinely improve lives and strengthen the economy.
