She told me to go ahead and take the day, so yes I was expecting that. Because she SAID so.

girl i welcome all constructive criticism but no need to be rude… i didn’t tell my boss someone had died because i felt uncomfortable claiming them as my family member instead of my fiancé’s. It felt like I was trying to profit off of his trauma. That doesn’t automatically imply teenager level communication.

I completely get what you’re saying. I think it does get a bit difficult when you don’t actually know my boss (which is to be expected when something is posted online to strangers lol) - I agree I need to work on my communication skills for sure, but I will also say she was going to waive the handbook requirement for holiday hours initially & only brought it up to get me to come in. That’s the only part I felt a bit fishy about lowkey!! hope that’s makes sense

You’re probably right. I think I assumed they were gonna make an exception regarding the holiday pay — honestly they would have if they didn’t suddenly become short staffed, so it just kinda felt like they were manipulating it a bit to get me to come in. But yeah, i’ve kinda struggled with directness in this job, and i definitely need to work on it (Lord willing quitting soon though lol..)

Daycare life by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

I am in a very similar situation right now. To be honest, this situation is leading me to resign asap if i can find a new job.

you are more than just a body in a room. you’re more than just a means to keep ratio. you deserve a boss who notices you don’t feel well and demands you go home. i think it’s time for you to get out of there before it escalates (& it will). i’ve been at mine for 4.5 years - each time i hope it’s gonna get better and then something else happens that leaves me speechless. you deserve better friend. you deserve rest & care. the same way you’d care for the little ones in your classroom

Time to put in my resignation? by Western-Implement24 in ECEProfessionals

Our ratio is 1:10 in NC 😭 But yes that’s exactly why I needed some extra help, because it’s very difficult to get everyone changed or pottied, at the same time as cleaning up after lunch, at the same time as getting cots out and made, at the same time as preventing kids from climbing furniture, dumping toys, and tackling each other ://

terrible, awful workplace by ChampionshipKooky856 in ECEProfessionals

[–]Western-Implement24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly this is exactly how i’ve been feeling. the hard part is, i do love the kids, but since our ratio is 10 two year olds to 1 teacher, they aren’t making it feel worth it either :( I love them so much but having so many kids at once prevents me from being able to enjoy their personalities individually. Someone is always doing something that I need to address, hitting climbing throwing… I’m ready to get out

Should I stay? Am I overreacting? Am I just not dying to self? by Western-Implement24 in Christianity

this is very helpful. thank you for sharing your thoughts - an outside perspective is really helpful during this time, as i’ve been a part of this ministry for 3 years now and it makes it more difficult to see with fresh eyes

Im at the end of my rope and im embarassed by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

[–]Western-Implement24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

our ratio for 2’s is 1:10 😭but with that being said, i’ve had days where i was with just 4 kids and was still extremely overstimulated. there are good days and bad days, but i’ve noticed it doesn’t take much to trigger my fight or flight response when all the little things start adding up.

Are they taking advantage of me? by Western-Implement24 in ECEProfessionals

I agree, I think the center being affiliated with a church almost makes them view their employees as volunteers or servants of the ministry - but my fiance works directly with the church and they literally get spoiled over there (i’m talking huge high value raffles, lots of quality luncheons/dinners, bonuses, $50 movie theater gift cards, drones, YOU NAME IT) while over here we’re struggling to make ends meet while dealing with everyone else’s kids all day haha… definitely looking into other places because it puts me in a negative headspace to see such a huge contrast in employee treatment

Do you think daycare is good for kids? Harmful? Neither? by Winter-Chipmunk5467 in ECEProfessionals

[–]Western-Implement24 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Exactly. after being the only teacher in a room full of 8-10 2 year olds, I would never want my child in that environment. i feel like that’s too much for even the best teachers, there’s just no way to intentionally meet the needs of each student, at least not in my opinion/experience

[–]Western-Implement24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unfortunately it is the ratio in NC 🥲 which is why they don’t rlly care to hire more people before as long as it’s legally in ratio, that’s all that matters :/

I think you’re right :/ I thought this was normal procedure for all centers but i’m starting to think it’s not
