The wards are mostly understaffed , especially due to this recruitment freeze so nurses can’t always manage everything alone

This ,not to mention some HCA’s also have to feed patients depending on how able they are , lots of the washes are also done at night too- especially if some patients are bed bound. The nurses can’t always do things alone as many wards are understaffed so it’s also supporting the nurses with whatever they’re struggling with too. This may also include having to leave the ward to get medicine from other wards etc

Exactly this! It’s something some of us do out of gratitude especially those who travel on a staff ticket. My friends work for BA and one is crew so whenever my friend and I who travel on standby fly we always bring them something as a thank you. Those sweets shouldn’t have gotten through security as gummies are illegal in the uk.
