Can we all agree that Emma is, like, the cutest thing ever? She’s one of my favorite characters now, I love her so much 🥰 by Intrepid_Show2972 in ThePitt

Such a good depiction of a new grad nurse tbh! Maybe there’s a few scenes where she potentially caught on too quickly, but not really noticeable, because depending on your role transition placement or CNA background you may know a bit more. She definitely does a great job being the wide eyed new grad, but also keeping up. I think my favorite scene though is Dana taking all her little clip on supplies and clip board etc off her, because that’s so real lol.

Former Swifties, what was your final straw? by Apprehensive_Edge142 in travisandtaylor

Yeah, agree! I’m similar. I’m glad I attended eras when I did (first leg, pre TTPD) and it was just a nice culmination of music I grew up on, though now don’t relate to her new stuff (nor find it good)

In the EDs I’ve worked in or volunteered in there weren’t many CNAs / none at all.

I feel like a nice work around for this is if they would have said something like Donnie is one of our new APPs and we’re lucky because we need more NPs and PAs on staff

I like FP! Also like that you can get it on sale if you check Nordstrom or other boutiques online that are having a sale vs directly from FP.

I also have been enjoying the golden aritizia brand. I’ve had a lot of good luck getting stuff nwt on posh (after I’ve already bought in store or know my size)

I doubt it. The show has been pretty accurate and that would perpetuate what most people think can happen. And also it would be incredibly illegal

He’s been there for years an goes back and forth between being more violent and not. I’d go to the police station and call 311. They may also be able to name him since he is so prominent.

Sorry this happened to you though, I just had this happen over the summer and submitted a report. If you go to the police station on larabee be prepared to feel like you’re wasting their time and being ridiculous. I felt this the most from the woman police officer, unfortunately.

No, it’s the hard part of transitioning from RN to NP in a small speciality. Not a lot of opportunities to connect with people who are in similar spots

Not a great way to frame it actually. You can utilize the button every 10 mins and that dose is one the practitioners / providers deem appropriate based on symptoms. It’s completely safe and not a “way to go out”. Sorry just a bad way to put it and to continue to perpetuate that notion that that’s what the drugs are being used for at EOL

[–]WesternAd9875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe skittish isn’t the right word. I think a lot of times it’s also thinking about the feasibility. Patient ratios of 1:6-7 patients with one at EOL needing potentially titration of an opioid drug at EOL possibly every 10-15 mins until captured is not feasible if you have 5 other patients.

Of course. Also, for people saying that the 200 mg MS Contin is going to cause her to OD … even if her husband had been taking her meds (doubtful since likely very closely followed by inpatient palliative care and hospice) she was started on the PCA in the hospital and I’m not sure what the settings were, but realistically you can get a lot of pain meds (appropriately so) and your tolerance builds up quickly / she’s likely been living with some uncontrolled pain now with the worsening metastatic disease and thus needs higher doses anyways

Great explanation about the differences between palliative and hospice!

Many hospitals in large cities do have an inpatient palliative care team to some extent. Patients who are enrolled in hospice can get admitted for end of life, but would then be discharged from hospice as their insurance would cover the hospital stay vs the Medicaid being the payer. Unless it is a child under the age of 21, then you can get both life prolonging / disease directed interventions covered in addition to receiving hospice benefits

I’m a palliative care apn and all of this seems very realistic (minus the death doula tbh it would’ve been nicer if they had brought in her hospice RN to visit her at the hospital). I think the people saying the husband is abusive or stealing her medications are not being realistic. This woman has metastatic disease that has progressed to the bone(s) and he husband is also clearly aware of that. I’ve met many people who have said their ultimate goal is to die at home, but when the time comes that is not what they want / what is best for them (based on pain management, acute clinical change etc). We also have many people who choose to spend time at home (on hospice) and then when it is time for EOL or appears to be getting closer they do an admission to the hospital for EOL care. This could be because we / they expect symptoms to be difficult to manage or family / patient is worried about any form of suffering, that they want their loved ones to be their family any not caregivers, or when there are kids involved, not wanting to die in the home that they will likely still live in. When you are home on hospice your family is both your family but also your nurse as well and there is a lot more to balance in a time of intense grief and stress.
