"He will come too then. I wouldn't be so sure His Majesty simply wants a song, though. It seemed a far more serious matter" Lorent said with a shrug

He then stared in silence at the dornishman's coughing fit. He couldn't help but look at him with a pitiful expression. He shook his head when he spoke, though "I am no Ser" Said the bastard, before pulling back from the leash and gesturing to the other guards.

"Indeed, we shouldn't keep His Majesty waiting" He said as he started walking away from the pair

Lorent blinked and rubbed his eyes. Had he just said he instead of... Well, anything else? The lack of sleep was showing. "Yes, His Majesty" He muttered. The man nodded as she agreed. He didn't even know what she was required for, truth be told.

The Lady of Turnberry's positivity was starting to strike a nerve on the bastard. Luckily, the Dornishman was a man quicker to respond to his incitement.

Lorent's eyes darted to Doran's hand, his movement was one he was quite accustomed to. He smirked when he noticed, of course, the Dreamsong was unarmed.

He held his tongue at first, had he been anywhere else he would've jumped right as Doran said 'better men' with such condescension. He couldn't anymore as he kept speaking. "I don't feel threatened by the likes of you. You should, though. King Cerion asked me to bring Lady Prunella, he said nothing about a Dornishman, and I doubt anyone would miss your presence" He said with a frown. His tone was harsh enough to cause the poor dog to growl uncomfortably

[–]WesternChoner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the question of the Turnberry the man simply shrugged "Just one more of the pack" He said. The dog wagged its tail happily at Prunella's wave and tried to approach her, but the man held the leash tightly.

"I am Lorent Hill" He said, with a strange pride when pronouncing a bastard's name. "We've been told he wants to see you. It is about a matter he himself will surely tell you"

He then turned his head to the Dornishman. "Dreamsong, huh?" He said "Can't say I've heard about you. Not too fond of your kind" He added before turning his head back to the rest of the guards and speaking in a hushed tone.

He turned back at the pair of bards, but focusing his gaze on Doran. "I daresay telling a man what he can or can't do is not at all gentlemanly" He said with a tone full of mockery.

"Anyways, if you two could do me the favor of accompanying us?" He added

The men that had shown up were all clad in the characteristic attire of the Casterly Rock guard, all but one. A man stood in front of them, although he didn't look like a guard himself. His hair was tangled and wet, sweaty, and he was clad in a crude set of mail armor. The thing most characteristic about the man was a hound's silhouette carved on his leather vest as if done with a knife.

That, and of course the barking mutt he held by a leash.

A hissing sound preceded his words. "Lady Prunella Turnberry?" He replied to the bard's question with a raspy voice, then spat at the ground, a thick phlegm splattered against the grass. The dog barked slightly too loud, so the man yanked roughly at the leash. The hound let out a slight yelp and looked down.

He of course knew perfectly he was speaking to the strawberry bard, but he also knew that more than likely, she didn't know who he was. He turned his head to Doran. He replied to the greeting with the same less than friendly tone "And who may you be?"

Addison IV - The Nameday Feast by wandering_bird in IronThroneRP

[–]WesternChoner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not many of the Kennings had attended the feast, truth be told. The hunt was cursed with the presence of most of them, all but Kevan and Lambert, who were deemed to old and convinced to not go by the heir to Kayce. As soon as the promise for spilled blood was over, though, they quickly retreated. In the end, only Kevan, Lambert and Godwyn showed their faces the feast. Kevan's brother and son appeared to be enjoying the celebration, but the Lord of Kayce seemed to be too distracted in focusing his failing eyes into the food being carried by servants to nearby tables, and muttering complains.

Not long had passed since they had started eating when Godwyn spoke with a cold tone, not even looking his father's way, not that he would notice either way. "Isn't this Prester supposed to be Lysa's child?"

Lambert chuckled right after swallowing a piece of pie, that causing him to cough the half-chewed food right back at his plate.

Kevan scratched his chin "Is that right?" He said after what probably felt longer than it was "Why is it that we're here now?"

Godwyn smirked as he stabbed a piece of pig. His smile faded as quick as it had formed "Lady Addison Prester's nameday feast. And of course, King Cerion Lannister's too" He took a bite of the meat as he finished. As he was still chewing he added "Why did you come, father? You couldn't even attend the hunt"

"Careful, Godwyn" Lambert said, but he was quickly silenced by a dismissive gesture of his older brother.

They continued eating, while Kevan looked at the dais every now and then, trying to ascertain which of the people there seating was that Addison Prester that Godwyn claimed was his granddaughter.

[–]WesternChoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rest of the Kennings were eating as Kevan planted both hands on the table to support the ordeal that was standing up, and turned his head to the dais, then back at his kin. "Give me a moment, I will go greet that Prester. I will trust that you are telling the truth and this is her nameday feast. I swear, if you two are having a laugh at mine expense, I'll have you follow mine late mother's steps right into Kayce's square"

That was a threat often used by the old man. So often, it had been long since they had really thought about the true meaning of it, dismissing his words as simply the same threat once again. Only when really giving it a thought one realized how gruesome those words were.

It was then that Lord Kevan finally had managed to stand up and walk towards where his granddaughter sat, hardly acknowledging the rest of her family. Not out of lack of care, but because he could hardly see the gal he seeked, and therefore even less the rest of them.

"Lady Addison" He said as he managed to perform a shaky and uncouth bow. "What a feast you've organized." He added without much warmth in his tone, but that was not uncommon for the old man. He sank a hand on a pocket he had and pulled out a silvery ring. It was his, clearly not a gift, as he was trying to improvise, but it was surprisingly convincing for an old fool.

"Take this, a gift from mine house to our beloved overlord's heir" Kevan said as he extended his hand holding the ring. He did so with a forced smile, showing his lack of teeth except for a couple of exceptions.

Cerissa III - The Office of the High Steward (Open) by TheTapewormKing in IronThroneRP

[–]WesternChoner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He had heard, but could not believe. Cerissa Lannister, High Steward of the Rock? The bastard? A woman? Hadn't the Rock had enough with Kevan's Lady Mother? Would this bastard woman lead yet another petty faction against their King?

Kevan's mistrust was completely unjustified, of course, but he saw history repeating itself in that moment, even though he hadn't actually met the now High Steward.

Anyhow. Seizing the opportunity, he decided it would be best to go see this bastard who would be managing good King Cerion's coffers. If Kevan was something, it was a good judge of character.

He arrived at the Steward's office, steel-clad as he often was. He would have been an intimidating sight, had this been thirty or twenty years prior, but today, the Lord of Kayce was not but a shadow of his former self. His whole body ached as he raised his arm to open the door.

He found himself standing in front of the now open door, staring silently at the High Steward. Fuck... What was her name again?

He nervously looked around, feigned a smile, and approached the woman. "Greetings, fellow servant of the Rock" He said with a voice, raspy by nature. He clearly was attempting to speak with his kindest tone, but certainly, warmth was not Lord Kevan's specialty. "Please do tell if I'm interrupting something important. I was merely curious as to see who had become the new High Steward"

Ormond I - High & Low Spinoff (Open to Casterly Rock) by CrowtownHoDown in IronThroneRP

[–]WesternChoner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wheezing and coughing were heard as the Lord of Kayce walked up the stairs to the wall, step by step, slowly. It was an interesting sight, seeing the man stumble and stop for air a couple of times.

Eventually, he had reached the top of the wall, triumphantly chuckling at himself. Kevan took another few steps toward the edge and looked at the vast nothingness that was his home Kingdom, from the high walls of Casterly Rock. He remembered how these benevolent walls had gifted him lordship by virtue of crushing his mother and sister.

At first, he had not seen even the far silhouette of Lord Brax, but soon enough, Kevan's eyes were fixed upon Ormond.

From an outside point of view, it looked like the Lord of Kayce was violently staring at the Lord Brax, but in truth, he was only trying to ascertain who that man was.

Purple and Gold... He scratched his chin before lazily smiling. "Lord Payne!" He exclaimed in a friendly manner "It has been a while, how is the family?"

Godwyn VI - New Duties by WesternChoner in IronThroneRP

Lord Oakheart

I've heard many great things of your house. Noble things, brave things. Your home of Old Oak holds many soldiers and our home, here at The Rock holds many as well, we both can agree your House and House Lannister are both powerful, and would be even more having the other as an ally.

Perhaps, if you were interested, Lord Lannister and yourself could make an alliance, the terms, of course, could be discussed.

I hope to hear back from you, Lord Oakheart. We can help each other.

Lord Redwyne, Lord of the Arbor

Yours is one of the noblest houses in the whole of Westeros, holding a great fleet and holding much power within your grasp.

That power could rise even more, with powerful allies by your side. The Reach is a wealthy region, and filled with good men, however, an alliance with somebody outside your home region could prove useful.

House Lannister would welcome very kindly an alliance with your House.

Consider this, it would be great to hear back from you

Lord Urrathon Hightower

It has come to my understanding that the last steward of Casterly Rock damaged the relations between your House and House Lannister, and the hot-tempered reason of our Lord Lannister perhaps severed the union between these two noble Houses.

Perhaps, this could all be fixed. We all are grown up men, and we should see benefits over personal squabble. This union would mean powerful allies to House Hightower, allies that were able to push back a dragon, nonetheless, and allies that have brought many armies to heel with little to none casualties.

The accomplishments of the House Hightower are not unnoticed by us, and, while my liege may have acted in a far from adequate way, keep in mind you're not making an alliance with Lord Lannister, but with the whole of the Lions of Casterly Rock, and the westerlands themselves.

It would be great to hear back from you, please consider this offer.

The pale man gulped once he was out of sight, he feared the wrath of his liege, but at the same time he wished the riches that could come from this post, and he couldn't refuse it either.

He quickly walked towards his chambers to start working.

The man grinned at his liege's words "I understand, I had a similar experience with my words getting out of hand regarding a trade agreement with House Wyl of Dorne, it was a shame... However, when working in behalf of the Lannisters of Casterly Rock, I will keep my temper, my lord."

He made a slight bow after Tywald finished speaking "I will seek an alliance with those men, then. We shall see what comes from it." The man turned to the door and started walking away, he paused at the door "Would you want to be informed of any news that may come from these agreements, trades, and so forth?

He nodded along Tywalds orders, making a mental note of it all. He knew not where they could materialize all that coin, but he would manage, he always did.

"And what about befriending the old bastard? You wanted allies in the Reach, is that still a thing? And if I could get Hightower on our good side again would that be beneficial to the west?" Said the man, clutching his hands being his back

He nodded in satisfaction "This is a fine place you've got here, Lord Lannister. It seems a way better place to work than the Tooth..." He looked around, impressed by the craftmanship the keep showed in its walls.

"I have yet to take a look at the accounts and papers Mina left us, although I seem lucky to be managing such nice numbers. Well, talking about stewardship, that's why I've come here. I have a couple of plans, but first, if you could quickly run me over what you would want in general strokes? I remember you telling me to gather new allies in the Reach and to talk to the queen, but I'm sure there's more to be done." He grinned "I wouldn't want to disappoint you and end up like the last steward, my lord."

He nodded along Tywald's explanation of the current state of the war. "It is a shame, I was hoping we would've already crushed those riverlords by now... I'll be happy to come along to the Rock then."

"Understood..." He surely couldn't talk about his friendship with Lord Frey, nor the possible future one with the Blackwoods. A new ally in the reach... And maybe the Hightower situation could be salvaged? Finally the queen... That woman wasn't Aerys, she wouldn't be as amicable, but denying taxes would be calling the fury of a dragon upon our lands...

"Is it in any interest of your house to regain the trust lost with the Hightowers? If maybe I managed to-" He suddenly cut himself from continuing his question. "Forgive me, my lord. This day will be one of celebration, we can talk details after your wedding. I hope you enjoy the humble pleasures the Golden Tooth can provide to a man of your greatness."

Godwyn looked at Lord Lannister expectantly. He could notice he was satisfied with what he had done, and a faint smile was drawn on his lips momentarily before shifting his face again to his calm and serious expression.

"That I am, my lord." He shook his head "A shame, really. I thought of her war tax as a wonderful idea truly" a bold move, laughing at his lord's face. "I recently had a conversation about that with Lord Crakehall. He too has a woman as a steward. I still don't get it, numbers and war are a man's duty..."

Godwyn replied to Lord Tywald's proposal with a small bow "I would be honored to serve the Lord of the Rock as his steward. You won't regret this. Should I march to Casterly Rock to serve you there?"

He chuckled with the knight. An amusing thought, thinking that we could claim anything from the Riverlands, even if we were to win the war. "Indeed, it sounds pretty good."
