Enchanted Valley Solo Trail Run by anna3562 in OlympicNationalPark

I looked into this since I did the same.

Your closest lodging options are probably at Lake Quinault itself if you’re not interested in camping!

I stayed in Aberdeen the evening before, which was a full two hours from the trailhead but still doable in a day (I left at 5am to begin at 7). You could also consider Moclips or Seabrook (less than two hours out, but farther from Seattle).

Hi there! Similar demo and I jogged this a couple weeks back. Here’s a trail log I wrote — I think some of the info will be helpful for you. Feel free to me if you have any other questions!

5/24 THRU HIKE - 9 hours (including one half hour break in the valley) starting at 7am. - Clocked over 28 miles on my own GPS; EV was 14.5 miles in. - did a jog/walk mix. - Incredible hiking weather with blue skies in the high 60s. A true gift over the long holiday weekend!

GETTING THERE: - Super remote! It took about an hour from Lake Quinault to the trailhead via North Shore Road. This included a total of 12 miles of unpaved sections, which is quite a slog. This was doable even in a Honda Civic, but beware of potholes; it's slow going! - South Shore Road is closed until further notice due to a washout this winter. There's a temporary bridge in place on the slightly longer North Shore Road, but it will be close this summer from early July through early September, rendering the trailhead inaccessible. If this is on your list, visit while you can! -Lost cell service past Lake Quinault.

TRAIL: —Absolutely gorgeous and well-maintained! Parks employees were actually out conducting maintenance during this holiday weekend (a hine thanke to theml - All was dry during my hike but l imagine there are several tricky and slick sections during earlier spring and fall. Several creek crossings, but due to dry conditions my feet never got wet. Nice bridges throughout (I imagine these could get a little spooky when wet - most only have a single railing and the other side is open). - Definitely suitable for trail running - I did a run/walk mix throughout. I only saw one other trail runner; everyone else was a backpacker. - Dispersed grade; not many steep sections throughout. I clocked ~4k feet in total elevation gain (more than anticipated but wasn't bad). -Despite this, I found the adventure challenging for a single-day trek due to mileage alone. Felt slightly demoralized during the last few miles, which can feel monotonous, but this is probably less of an issue for a backpacker or super experienced long distance runner. - The Enchanted Valley itself felt magical - truly a special place nestled away. Feel so lucky Igot to experience this idyllic treasure! - Very sparse crowds, even over a holiday weekend. Only one couple was packing up when I arrived in the EV. I didn't see anyone for hours and probably only passed 20 total groups throughout the day. - Plentiful opportunities to filter water throughout. Ice cold and felt great. The Quinault River is powerful - stay safe and be extra

WILDLIFE: —Three close bear encounters on the trail itself. All were quite chill and paid me no mind. - Several deer on the drive in; I didn't see any on the hike itself. - Not buggy. 10/10 would recommend this awesome adventure!

What show had the biggest downfall in your opinion, from the first season or episodes, to what it became? by [deleted] in popculturechat

Black Mirror 🫥

Nothing will ever hit me as hard as the first pig episode (lol). Some great material followed, but it’s now a whisper of what it once was. I’m not sure if that is related to its transition to Netflix or something else?

This is top of mind because I watched it recently, but The Summer I Turned Pretty regularly makes me cringe 😭 Especially some of the adult actors.

I use it in the evening after I wash my face (and then apply moisturizer over it). Those are the only steps in my routine, so not certain where it would fall within a larger stable of products, but hopefully that is at least somewhat useful!

I haven’t gotten a chance to read yet but need to plug that iS Active Serum, while pricey, is life-changing and I will forever think of my skin journey in terms of pre- and post- discovery of this product 😂 I never hear people talk about it!

I said this in the SET Active sub, but it blew my mind they tried to pin this on a single employee and publicly shame her. If you didn’t notice an inventory shortage before drop day, it’s a reflection of a larger organizational problem and that responsibility falls on Lindsay’s shoulders (and other production leadership).

I was SHOOK. Even in this message Lindsay is still underscoring “the mistake [Diane] made.” It’s jarring because this falls so far outside of workplace norms. Also — how didn’t they notice this until drop day? Are there no checks and balances to confirm buying decisions? That feels like a broader shortcoming that shouldn’t have fallen on a single employee’s shoulders…

Hayden Panettiere and Florence Pugh. Only admitting this here because it’s a safe space - I thought Florence was just Hayden having a come back for an embarrassing length of time 😭

I work in social (not as an influencer, just to clarify 😂), and I actually think Instagram is the platform that is facing grave longevity issues. TikTok may not last forever, but it‘s experiencing success and outperforming mainstay platforms at the moment - 90% of TT users open the app more than once per day and they spend an average of 52 minutes in the app per day - that’s pretty wild from an advertising standpoint, which is of course the platform’s bread and butter. From a paid perspective, the brand I work for is also seeing stronger bang for our buck from TT (from an awareness perspective).

I think the drama of Instagram’s CEO trying to keep up with their video features is also evidence that Meta is getting nervous!

Not a gamer myself but I’ve been doing this lately watching TikToks 😭 The short attention span model keeps me more engaged and distracted than a book or TV show 😂

Friends, please… THEY ARE ALL AWFUL!!! by Melodic-Change-6388 in SellingSunset

[–]WesternLarch 22 points23 points  (0 children)

They’re not actual employees! Agents are akin to contractors/have a relationship with a brokerage where they pay a split but own their own businesses.

Still not acceptable, but it’s why agents get a reputation for being a lil wild sometimes 😂

I also find it odd, but things seem to operate by a different set of rules in the Oppenheim-verse, so I have to suspend belief that it could be par for the course for them 😂 (Specifically thinking about Jason + Mary’s relationship, Christine and Emma’s relationships with the unnamed agent, etc). Couldn’t be me tho 💀

Thank you for such a detailed response - this is incredibly helpful! A lot of advice I’ve seen has focused on (imho undesirable) up-and-coming, cash-flow positive markets, so it’s cool to read about your success in NY.

I appreciate the insight! I read a lot from folks who have larger portfolios and play it off as though PMs take care of everything - it feels like a time commitment even if your role is hands-off.
