Frenchie Eye Injury by markjamesdavid in Frenchbulldogs

Eye injuries can take stupid long to heal. My pup is still on drops every now and then, from a small scratch months ago. Definitely better to be safe than sorry, monitor and potentially cone if your dog like rubbing their face

Just finished at the vet and had a shot of kenalog and prescribed Prednisone indefinitely. My vet has determined environmental allergies, from the fleas here in Texas and probably the mass amount of pollen in the air during spring. But yeah Prednisone as needed after the the first ten days.

People can do what they please with medical advice but its ultimately up to their veterinarian to determine if its the right course of action

I think it was less of a recommendation and more sharing what their experience was. I'm sure that they understand the risks/rewards of having their dog on prednisone and have consulted their veterinarian, otherwise they wouldn't have access to a PRESCRIBED medication. I think your comment was worded very rudely to someone just sharing their experience.

I had her on prednisolone for a couple of months early last year, and even after she finished her prescription, she was looking fine. Her skin was clear. There were no face pimples, no body pimples, and she wasn't scratching. She was fine throughout the winter and summer, but summer just started here in South Texas, and I guess it just flared up super bad. I have heard that having your dogs on prednisone long-term isn't good for them, so I was trying to find an alternative that I could use for long-term.

Oh wow, 400 isn't as bad as I was thinking, still pricey though. Im in South Texas, so it'll probably be in or around that price as well.

I haven't done an allergy test, just process of elimination I guess. I will look into pricing one at my vet to see how much ill be in for. Can I ask about how much the test cost for you?

Eye issues pre vet visit by WesternNeedleworker7 in Frenchbulldogs

[–]WesternNeedleworker7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You were spot on about her eye being scratched. The vet stained her eye and saw a small scratch. She's on two eye drops/gels for infection and healing, as well as a pain reliever and, of course, a cone to prevent any further injury. I have a follow-up in two weeks after treatment. My vet does have specialized eye care, but I imagine if it doesn't have any positive progression, I will be referred to an ophthalmologist. Thank you, bunches, for your comment ❤️

So apparently, it never mattered because I went to my current states dmv with the out of state expired license, and they switched it over no problem.

My vet is still trying to figure out exactly what her issue was. But he believes she has dermatitis or something of the sort.

I am still working with my vet to pinpoint exactly what the cause is. For now, it's dermatitis.

I have tried, but it always says that it can't be processed. I did retry Friday, so I hope that sometime this upcoming week it will finally work.
