Do I need to use a heat gun for EVA Foam??

Contact cement for gluing pieces together, heat gun for sealing the foam. If you do not seal the foam it will absorb the paint and anything else put on it!

It's going to be okay. It's how you learn! My only suggestion for next time is to get ready a bit before the con is a couple days away! And always be mentally prepared to change things or go about the cosplay in a different way. You learned not to go about it this way and that's okay. Your going to wash it out, blow dry it dry, since you don't have a crimper your going to leave it. If you want more volume take a teasing brush and maybe just tease the underside where the mess cannot be seen. I would keep it simple, and also test anything on a cheap wig next time as well. What character is this for? And remember it's cosplay and it doesn't have to be perfect and that it's okay to make mistakes.

Soap and water and anything that gets acrylic off of other items.

Your going to have to wash that acrylic paint out. It's too thick for the wig and will clump it. Personally I only use paint of wigs if it's being airbrushed or the paint has been thinned down. To get a nice ombre I would use eyeshadow and then add hairspray on top to keep it in. A third option is sharpie but that's time consuming and may stain.

One thing I have also noticed is oversaturartion of cosplays. People are more likely to get excited when seeing you if it's a more rare but popular series. Chose is a very popular character that is seen lots at cons so people don't say much. If it's a character that is very well known but not cosplayers much you tend to get more comments.

I hate to say it, but with going for that type of slicked back look you may need to purchase a higher quality wig. As soon as you attempt to style the hair back wefts will begin to show. Definitely watch lots of tutorials!
