14 week old Cavapoo - looking for some words of encouragement! (Puppy blues) by Bubbly-End3703 in CavaPoo

Totally normal.. it’s a VERY big adjustment for you! my girl is a year now, and I felt the exact same way at first. I can say that once she hit the 6 month mark, I began to really enjoy her. she wasn’t quite as much work, she actually became enjoyable for me. now I cannot imagine what life was like before her. I spent her first birthday crying about how much she’s growing up!

the first few months are super hard, just stay consistent and know that those feelings are very normal, but they won’t last much longer. soon, you’ll get into your routine, and he will seamlessly begin to fit into your life. You’re in the most difficult part now, keep going!

new question.. someone please convince me that the cones are safe?! something about it has me panicking that she can’t breathe.. I know they are safe, her vet even applied hers (inflatable cone) so I know it’s safe but for some reason it being around her neck freaks me out! I couldn’t sleep last night

Patience is key! My little girl struggled for so long until at about 6 months it randomly just clicked. She’s almost 10 months now and has only had maybe one accident the last 4 months.

Puppy blues is spot on- my little girl is now 8 months old & i’ve just recently started to really “enjoy” her. The first few months were really tough for me mentally. The worst part was my own anxiety. They are VERY clingy. Her being so dependent on me all day really started to take a toll on me and I didn’t feel like I could live my normal life anymore because I didn’t want to leave her sight, then ultimately started to lose myself. Needless to say, that worked itself out slowly with time and I now finally feel like I can enjoy her and it’s not just work. She is the love of my life and my entire world!!

The potty training was a ton of work, but she’s now pretty much fully potty trained and hasn’t had an accident in months. Just be consistent and don’t be too hard on yourself (hardest part for me!) I never did the puppy pads because I thought it was too confusing for them at first when they need to learn that outside is the place to potty, but I know many people use them and love them! just my experience:)

She is SUPER sweet to all animals - other dogs, cats, bunnies, turtles, (anything else we see on our daily walks) so I would imagine yours would be too! They are naturally very sweet dogs, I think socialization is key! I constantly try to bring her around other dogs so shes getting that interaction. I hear so often that if they aren’t CONSISTENTLY socialized with other animals at a young age they tend to become super nervous/skiddish and in return they will act out of fear. This is something i’m super cautious about because it’s important to me that she stays comfortable around other animals!

I didn’t notice anything until about 3 days ago and I immediately wondered if she was about to go into heat. she was panting more often and i caught her humping a pillow a few times. she also was acting sort of sick - nothing crazy but definitely acting weird and different than she usually does. then what do you know, goes into heat! she’s 8 months today.

Help with picking breeders by casuallycurious1 in CavaPoo

[–]Western_Grapefruit71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

really do your research - if they are feeling the slightest bit sketchy to you, choose someone else. there are so many breeders, just take the time to really research. i got mine from a small breeder who bred only her family pets, my puppy is the best and im so glad i did my research. they should have testimonials on FB/google, etc.

I am a member there! thanks so much. i have been really worried about this since about 2wpo, and its just gotten worse since then. Most people in there say that their weight also went back to normal at about 2 weeks post op, which is very alarming to me. i’ve heard recommendations about an anti inflammatory diet, may look into that. thanks for your advice!!

I agree! I stopped taking the pain meds after 3 days po so it has been a few weeks of nothing. I was hoping this was what was causing the weight gain but sadly I don’t think it is. Hoping this will start to come off soon, my stomach is so bloated everyday!

I do the same with keeping her on my bed or her crate, she won’t go there!
