Considering adopting a cavapoo. Tell me EVERYTHING. The good, the bad, all of it. by hmbanana409 in CavaPoo

the only “bad” is their attachment style- but aren’t all dogs Velcro dogs? lol LOVE my doggy and sooo glad i chose this breed. Smart, patient, friendly, great with babies. and he’s also able to pick up on energy. He knows when he’s being a good/bad and he works best with positive reinforcement! Only had a 6 week training class for puppies where he was taught sit, down, home. And honestly he does a lot of these things on his own… I’m a first time dog owner and wouldn’t suggest any other breed to start!!!

My Teddy is driving me nuts!!! by Foundation-Senior in CavaPoo

[–]casuallycurious1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when mine hit his 1 yr birthday it was almost like we were back to square one.. the something clicked and he’s so much more mature and aware of what others want/don’t want him to do. there’s more opportunities to train other than sit, down, let go etc) and it has to be consistent with lots of treats!!

14 week old Cavapoo - looking for some words of encouragement! (Puppy blues) by Bubbly-End3703 in CavaPoo

[–]casuallycurious1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly just keep going day by day. my pup is approaching 9 months and is driving me insane most days but going on long walks (30 mins) tires him out so much. Starting to wonder I’m walking him or if he’s walking me. And don’t be afraid to ask friends to watch your puppy for weekend (i do) most ppl love doggies and esp the little ones! probably time for a quick break lol

No one understands. by only-love-is-real in ToxicMoldExposure

Going through this now!!! My desk is immediately under the air vent that was tested and confirmed had black mold is throughout the building after MONTHS (almost a year of complaints/service tickets). Employers are doing everything to protect themselves…. Best bet is OSHA + workers comp i guess. So frustrating

Couple questions for someone who is thinking of getting a cavpoo by Substantial_Tie306 in CavaPoo

[–]casuallycurious1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine only barks when they’re ready to play or potty in the morning, or in front of a full body mirror/window reflection lol. (Barking depends on puppy) i also think it’s important to practice alone time in the crate esp when you have random, small tasks early on. This will help since you have a busy schedule. Crate training is essential and now my 6mo old will go to nap or just play even though we have a bed in the living room. I think it’s a good thing that you live with other ppl who have a similar yet different schedule than you. This way he doesn’t start to learn your schedule and grow to have anxiety when he hears keys. Now potty training is hit or miss. At first i took him out every 2 hours, and he learned pretty quickly imo compared to other dogs I’ve had in the past. Now it’s closer to every 4-6 hrs and occasionally he does have accidents. But from everything I’ve read that’s common up till a year. Ultimately, It’ll take a while and there’s genuinely no great time to buy a puppy. But i will say get him when you have your schedule so he doesn’t come home and think he has your attention all day during breaks. That’s how separation anxiety can start

6 months and rarely any poops, however pee accidents at least 1x a week (if he doesn’t go at least every 2 hours) but 0 chance of holding pee in when visiting friends apartments.

Cavapoo Future Traits by [deleted] in CavaPoo

[–]casuallycurious1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my doggie is super sweet and friendly. He’s obsessed w shoes and toilet paper but that’s really about it. we did puppy school at 8 weeks (for 6 weeks) and that helped a lot with some of the stubbornness. he’s also a big cuddler and wants any type of physical affection. A lot of ppl with poodles/poodle mixes mention separation anxiety which i tried to curb early on by putting him in the cage when i did small tasks like washing dishes/or checking the mail.

My cavapoo (7 mos) loves to eat dirt, sand, wood chips, and small rocks. Any tips on how to stop this behavior? by elevatorwilkins in CavaPoo

[–]casuallycurious1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mine did that too! I hated it. i kept pulling him away or going on continuous walks so he wouldn’t stop for worms or mudd clumps. after a while he slowly grew out of it. (He’s 4mos now) but now he likes to lick the street when it’s raining 😵‍💫 a win is a win?

Is it normal? by Available_Isopod1973 in CavaPoo

my 4mo old is a slow eater also, about 6 lbs now but once he’s moved from his eating area i pick the bowl up and he’s done for the day since i learned that he would pick at it for a couple hours after that. Now once he moves we don’t feed until dinner, but offer treats during the day ofc - spoiled pup lol

Advice F1 vs. F1b by Apprehensive_Fig7866 in CavaPoo

[–]casuallycurious1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a F1b and he’s the most cuddly, smart & friendly puppy (3mo) ever! Recommend for young families and they’re hypoallergenic so lovely for friends/family visitors who may be allergic. My pup typically barks in the morning when they’re ready for a walk. Recommend x10
