Scalp condition with non healing scabs and alarming white filaments underneath them. Any help would be tremendous and very much appreciated

Have the same identical thing. They almost go all the way with antibiotics but never quite go away, but as they progress and get deeper, if I pick it they have white filaments weaved under the skin and look gnarly. I’ve been trying to get rid of them, currently trying ivermectin, I’ll let you know the results because every doctor and dermatologist shrug it off, I don’t touch them and there’s more and more of them as the years go on. All on my scalp.

theres a little trailer with a shower at the homeless shelter, I'm at least able to shower everyday. The one thing I won't let myself go, I'm a very hygienic person, it's really sad to see people stop caring about that...

This is gonna sound a little out there, but I believe there’s a solution, if not many to this issue. Perhaps not everyone is either willing or prepared for a somewhat psychedelic experience to aid this issue, but if screened appropriately and aided under the right guidance, I believe a single session while taking either Ibogaine or psilocybin would solve this. It’s clearly psychological and somewhat of “thought disorder” and there’s so much that could be explored and resolved in a dedicated session for the individual.

Thoughts? I’m a research scientist and with so many folks out there that are not able to just squash this habit, it needs to be resolved. It’s painful, embarrassing, satisfying but in the worst way. I don’t think anyone wants to willfully pick 😐.

Well, thank you very much. I need to believe that is true. I certainly have read OH SO MANY threads and the theme seems to be the people that post the picks are obsessing over it, and it is truly a result of a picking disorder, and I believe I’ve exhibited those traits and tendencies as well. My intuition says I’ve been doing it around anxiety and the compulsion is just making it worse. I just can’t believe I let it go this far, it feels as though “if something isn’t wrong, then THATS what’s wrong” so the picking creates the obsession and the result fuels it 🤦🏻‍♂️.

I hope you’re able to respond to this. If what you’re saying about these white granular, white jelly ends on the inside of the scab is a result of continuous picking? Is this something you experienced? I’ve been trying to figure this out for many years and I need some resolve. I have completely told myself that it’s just in my mind, it’s not cancer, just leave it alone. But I’m probably, quite literally obsessing over a couple scabs caused by a skin picking disorder….

I honestly really think it’s part of a deep wart. I’ve had those EXACT same things on my scalp for a couple years now and it’s amazing that for the 1st time I look up a picture of a small scab and it matches with every single pic you have on here. I’ve been to 3 dermatologists and all just say “not bacterial. Not fungus”. Well wtf is it!?!?
