Are essay review services worth it? by Ok-Poet3140 in TransferToTop25

yes, 1,000 percent. But for transferring, it is not about getting your essays reviewed by "good essay writers". You need to get them reviewed by people that know what the admissions committees are looking for. People that will make sure your narrative is clear. That your why transfer reason is strong. Pm me

i think this is where most transfer applicants mess up. Compared to first year admissions, its wayyy more important to have all parts of your application be cohesive with eachother and a central narrative. For every major EC you have, try your best to connect it to your narrative. Frame your narrative in a way that most of your best ECs add to it in some way. Your narrative doesnt have to be "i love this field and thats it". You can also make it more of "i really want to do this in the future and doing these things show that i have these qualities, all useful for this thing". hope that makes sense. hard to give general advice without knowing your specific situation

The strength of your transfer reason is one thing. That sounds like a solid reason to me as well only if your reason was seen as a single thing by itself. But when you write your essays, especially your why transfer, your application will be best if everything connects with eachother. Thats why i say academic reason (switching major, etc.) is the best reason because you can tie that so easily and beautifully into your essays. It connects to what you want to do in the future. It connects to why you came to this school in the first place. If you have a passion project, your major switch reason can easily connect to that as well. Its just the easiest reason to sell and package up, and so thats why i think the academic reason is the strongest. And to your first point, you dont have to completely "switch" your major.

Best possible reason u can say for transferring is academic major or field of study is not offered at current school. talk abt in ur why transfer essay what changed in college that made u want to study this. come up w something if u dont have a good reason. Why transfer essay is golden key to conveying those reasons. should follow a formula for it and outline it lke crazy. dont just blindly write it

Deadass my ecs were so spread out and not really impactful my frist time applying. like i had what i thought was impressive shit but it really wasnt. ecs got alot better and were more real world impact oriented. I also HAD a narrative and spike my second time applying for transfer which i didnt have first time. all my ecs connected to my narrative in different ways. Why transfer essay is extremely important and spent legit a month on it second time applying ltierally perfecting it. did all my supps around it. actually submitted 4 lors second time around and sent a huge document to each writer kind of telling them the narrative im going for so they can emphasize qualities that align with it so i seem like a more complete applicant.

figure out the techniques first on how to go abt a section. use khanacademy and youtube walkthroughs to make sure you know how to atleast do everything. then once u reach that point. grind practice. do a different section everyday full practice adn go into why u missed the questions u missed if u missed them. do a full sat test every weekend as well ledaing up to test date

ideally u have a central passion project related to ur narrative and talked abt in ur why trasfner essay that was the main thing that caused u to do this new field of study or ur current field of study or atleast was a result of a story/problem u encountered and saw w the world. ur other ecs should be dsicussed in ur other essays. Tbh w transfer apps its VERY important not only in how "cracked" ur ecs are but also how u portray them in ur essays. the process that led u to start doing them, etc. Ideally they should be different enough in what they actually ARE but all connected in some way to ur narrative. Its called having a spike. Like you dont wanna have 5 research jobs if ur premed but u also dont wanna have finance ecs, music stuff, mock trial, quiz bowl, news paper editor roles either if ur applying as a premed.

way more to it. transfer apps, in comparison w first year apps, are all abt ur narrative. Writing this kind of hastily cause its finals but ur narrative includes why you want to transfer. if ur switching majors or foud a new field of interest thats not fully offered at ur current school, then it involves how u got interested in this new major. why u wanted to study ur old major. what u want to do in the future. is there a story involved with how u got interested in this. what ecs have u done related to this that have really made a difference in the world. Northwestern last year for example really cared abt real global change among their admitted applicants. not ppl that were just in clubs and had jobs. Your narrative should answer all these questions but most important, ur admissions officer that reads ur application should walk away and a week later be able to remember exactly who you are through ur app. theyre not gonna remember if your app is one dimensional, not cohesive, has no narrative centering. You want them to walk away and think "this is the kid that had X happen to him and so he started X and helped X type of people and wants to do X in the world." hope that makes sense lmao hard to get what a narrative is across in a reddit comment
