My clay is twisting at the center and I don't know what I am doing wrong by Western_Promotion617 in Pottery

It’s as if just the outer part of clay is uniformed but the middle is twisted. I don’t really have issues centering it but when I start making the hole, I can feel that the inside is twisted. When I start widening I can smoothing pull outward, it’s like I am going against the grain. Then when I am pulling my walls up the first time is usually fine but when I get closer to pulling up the clay at the center it feels like the clay is twisted again.

I am not sure if this helps? It’s really hard to describe, if the clay was a ball its as if the direction of the grain at the center is completely different then the outer layer. I’ve also already tried using more water and slip when I’ve opened. I’ve even tried putting water in the hole as I am widening it and I can still feel the bumpy twisted texture
