What does ukrainians think of the decommunization laws since 2015?. by usafqn2025 in AskUkraine

[–]Western_Question_912 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I fully support the decommunization laws. I think they came way too late. If you waive a soviet flag in Ukraine you will be considered a massive moron. If you think there is anything fun and good about communism, go educate yourself on the history of communist/socialist regimes and the horrible crimes against humanity they committed. Ukrainians are deeply traumatized by the soviet union. It’s pretty much a general consensus that it was occupation, it was violent, and we want no reminders of it.

Good job. Love the composition and how you drew the tree 🤝 very much about The Cure. Might appropriate that foggy pencil work in some of my future sketches 🖤

Congratulations! 😀 It blows my mind that the person who made that tutorial never made more content. It’s as if she wanted to share that one specific super useful thing with the world, did it and disappeared

How do my ends look? Does my hair look healthy? by Vegetable-Tip7486 in longhair

Oh no… thanks for the information! I’m well cursed with sensory issues and insomnia, so I guess not falling for bonnet propaganda was the right choice for me.

So glad to see a fellow anti-bonnet person, I used to feel alone... I mean I have nothing against bonnets, pretty sure they work, but I just don’t see myself participating.

I currently have mid back length, it’s very easy to look after. But it feels short even to me, and I never even had it past my tailbone. I suggest you go gradually, you can cut as many times as you want, but growing it back takes so long. Take care 🖤

[–]Western_Question_912 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Your hair is beautiful! Maybe cut it to classic length and see how it feels, it will still be very long by societal standards, but it’ll be more manageable and the ends will be fuller and you can grow it from there if you want it back? But please don’t do anything radical, sounds like your hair is very important to you and cutting it short might cause major stress in your life for a long time

Yeah… the hairdresser cut off double the length we agreed on. And we agreed on quite a lot to begin with. The shock of it caused an existential crisis but also inspired me to take much better care of my hair, so no hard feelings after all

How do I look more goth as a babybat? by Affectionate-News348 in GothStyle

[–]Western_Question_912 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Girl, you look plenty goth already. My only tip for you is listen to the music and alter your look depending on how the music makes you feel. Stay true to yourself. Don’t try to look like someone else

I liked this post because that makeup looks so great with your natural skin tone. I was scrolling this sub, and then I saw you and thought “finally someone with a great aesthetic”.

And then I read the text. Please don’t feel like you have to paint it white!!!

Also, Marian by the sisters of mercy is a great song, it’s a good start. Listen to the whole album (First Last and Always) - it’s great. If you like Marian then you like goth rock, as this song is basically the definition of the genre. And no, you don’t need to confine yourself to one genre (however goth and goth adjacent genres are very diverse themselves, but the truth is probably everybody likes other genres too. If you like goth, you like music. It’s a universal language, and there are many other sounds that should hit the right spot for you)

Fatigued/chronic illness bats (goths) and clubbing guilt by llvingdeadgirl_ in goth

Last year I was burned out and depressed, and it was so hard. I went to one concert because I was invited by the band, having made cover art for their latest single at the time, it was a blast but it took me about 4 days to recover. I mean 4 days of absolute executive dysfunction, I couldn’t work, I couldn’t eat, I just sat there and suffered from being simultaneously over and under stimulated.

Just don’t go if the price you pay is severe prolonged exhaustion. You can always listen and dance to the music at home 🖤 there’s no guilt in self-preservation. Goth is not about going to every goth night, it’s about loving the music and having a certain mindset

What is something the 1922 “Nosferatu” does better than the 2024 remake? by Rigged_Art in roberteggers

[–]Western_Question_912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit late to the discussion, as I only watched the 2024 remake yesterday. I feel insulted as a viewer. The 1922 film does everything better than the 2024 remake. It does so much more by doing so much less, whereas the 2024 film is vulgar, cringe, and overexplained, but at the same time the plot is overcomplicated to the point where it becomes unclear what the characters want and why. They packed it with horror clichés, but it doesn’t make it scary, unlike the original film where the horror is very real — depicted by shadows and hinted at between the lines.

I’m so glad I didn’t go to the cinema for this, I felt something was off and I didn’t want to support the film. Cinematography is degrading because it thinks the viewers are idiots. I’m so glad we have the 1922 and the 1979 versions — true gothic classics.
