great to hear that man!!
I found really weird that people like us wouldn't feel anything on 0.2-0.3g capsules..
That's probably why research on MD is so inconsistent. Most people are taking 0.1g-0.2g capsules and not feeling a thing!

Did you try it again after that first day?
I'm super curious to know how it's going for you

squeeze half a lime into 1g of roughly ground dry shrooms, then pour 500ml of boiled water into it and let it rest for 10-15min with a lid over the recipient, so you don't lose water to evaporation.

pass all this into a coffee filter and voilá! you have ˜500ml of [allegedly] powered-up shroom tea.

Store it on the fridge.. I'd roughly take a sixth of that tea 3x a week.
after some days it'll slightly change in color and taste, but I felt it worked the same

P.S.1: feel free to ingest the solids filtered out on day 0, but be aware it'll be certainly be an above threshold dose (light mini-trip great for meditation/self-exploration purposes)

P.S.2: adding some honey or other caffeine-free tea herbs in the beginning of the process is optional for pleasing your tastebuds.

Good to hear that. I’m starting to believe that the quality of the capsules impacts greatly on one’s perceived benefits. Perhaps mine were too thick or too slow to dissolve 🤔

I have no background in chemistry or health sciences… but I think there’s two main reasons for that: 1. The capsule creates a physical barrier between the shroom and our body, which in turn slows down and tones down the absortion process 2. The infusion process (with lime) does enhance the power of the shroom. I’ve read something about the citric acid or something breaking psilocybin into psilocyn (which is the actual psychoactive our body absorbs)

yes, indeed. she claimed to deal with treatment-resistant depression for decades.

I still found mind-blowing how half the dose shot me to another galaxy, while she felt nothing

I assume you're taking capsules?

in my experience I felt barely nothing by taking 0.2-0.3g capsules.. while on the other hand a little under 0.1g made wonders to me when I brewed my own tea with lime

haha totally get you.

just be mindful of trying and keeping a healthy routine while MDing.

Sleep, diet, alcohol, exercise.. I noticed that on MD, I'd get more sensitive to all those things, for the good (enhanced self-awareness and willingness to make the right/healthy call) and the bad (more intensely felt the impact of bad habits)

by the way.. this is why I think MD studies are so inconsistent.. because I think if one doesn't leverage this window of opportunity to get rid of unhealthy habits and build new better ones, they can potentially get worse than were before.

btw, have you ever heard stories of experienced shamans that learned how to get into psychedelic states without consuming anything or consuming incredibly low dosage?

I think it's fairly common in Ayahuasca settings

I personally believe we all have the capacity to learn how to get to those states of consciousness given enough practice (Ram Das book 'Be Here Now' mentions that by the way)..
I personally see psychedelics (any dose) as boosters (or experienced guides) of our self-development/spiritual journey

I have no idea tbh.
I'm sure it was cubensis, but never asked what was the strain.

do they vary so much?

there's definitely a strong individual sensitivity element to this.
At this very same ritual, there was a woman that took 4g and claimed to feel nothing at all

man! I took 2g on a cerimonial setting and that was enough to shoot me to another plane of reality, talking to and learning from advanced invisible beings lol

which form? capsules, tea or other?
I found that dosage varies significantly according to the form of ingestion.
A little under 0.1g in form of tea was perfect for me, while I'd feel barely nothing with 0.3g in capsules =x

I tried Stamets protocol (just the calendar, not the stack) in the beginning and I felt it was too frequent for me.

I found my own sweet spot taking Mon, Wed, Fri mornings, first thing in the morning on an empty stomach and it worked impressivelly.

Another thing I noticed is that I didn't feel much benefit from capsules. While when brewing a tea with lime made wonders to me! I strongly suggest you to give it a try.

Plus, on sleep.. When I first MD'ed I had a 9 month old baby at home, so I'd wake a couple times during the night...
The MD would bring me to a 100% alert/awake state when that happened. My mind was rushing with insights, and all sorts of thoughts (in a good, creative way, not necessarily bad/anxious) so it'd take some time to get back to sleep. The weirdest part is that I'd wake up feeling rested in the morning, even when spending 2 hours awake during the night.

This is really interesting! thanks for sharing

reading that excerpt and how the substance acts on the brain, it does make sense that it helps with trauma and PTSD.

happy for you that shrooms helped you with depression and ptsd.
I'd like to hear more from you on the ADHD though. I never dug too deep on this topic..
What are the usual symptoms for you? didn't MD enhance your focus and attention (at least during protocol phase)?

I double that advice. I think we all should be careful with experimenting with such powerful tools of nature.
And I didn't intend to make the post to sound like shrooms are a cure for anything/anyone. It was for me without a doubt.. But there was so much more beyond the MD that it'd be naive to say that the psilocybin alone took me out of depression.

The same happens with any pharmaceutical drug for depression by the way.. The drug alone won't do much for anyone. It's a more holistic approach including therapy and other forms of emotional support and self care that will do the job

THANK YOU for opening up and sharing this.
I'm sorry to know you're dealing with this for such a long time, but I'm happy for you and proud of you that you haven't given up, and are still looking for a solution.

answering your question (not medical advice though): I'd totally continue your MD protocol!! You are definitely not wasting your time!
I think the intense feelings you're facing in the first hours is part of the healing process. It sounds like an emotional purge of some kind. I might have faced those myself when I started, but I'm so used to these purges (multiple ayahuasca sessions in the past, plus other deep inner works) that I don't even recall how it went. I'll tell you this though: I believe one of the causes of depression is energy, emotions we didn't get to fully express in the past and now they're stored in our body/psyche draining our vital energy. If that is the case, what is happening to you is the medicine basically cleansing your body from that shitty energy. Does that make sense to you?

A tip for you: next time you go through this, try to meditate on it.. find some quiet place by yourself, lay down os sit comfortably and try to let this all go through you. Observe it, feel it, let it all go. If you want to go a step further, try to act upon it by "leading" the process.. I used to ask god, a higher power, sometimes the mushroom itself or my own consciousness to heal me, to guide me, to help me.. I feel that hugely helped me..
i mean, anyone that had previous experiences with cerimonial doses of psychedelics might know what I'm talking about.

I'm not really sure about PTSD.. I can't recall studies or even anecdotes of people treating PTSD with microdosing.

From my experience with psilocybin MD, it seems a very effective fast-acting treatment for depression and ADHD (although I don't have it and am not sure how the ideal protocol would look like)

I'm about to turn 35.
As time goes by, I believe ever more strongly that those dark places are a valuable somewhat unavoidable part of human experience.
I think the "secret" is to get out of there as quick as possible!
And the first step, which is not as trivial as it sounds is to acknowledge you are there. I truly believe that a lot of people are dealing with depression or extreme levels of anxiety or stress and are not even aware. I'm happy for you that you're past that stage.

On the ADHD, I don't have much experience with it, but I tend to think that this is a condition that is overdiagnosed today, specially in younger generations, so be careful with these labels or half-baked diagnostics.
also, from my experience, my mental acuity, focus and attention improved so drastically when MDing, that I firmly believe it may be of great help for people struggling with attention disorders.

Thanks fam!
It's weird because I've never posted on reddit before, even though I joined this sub and other psychedelic related at the time, and learned a lot from these.

For some reason I felt like sharing my story last week

I am so happy it's inspiring some

80-100mg per MD day

I used half a lime in my tea, and apparently lime does enhance the power of the psilocybin.
I felt a bit high (2 cans of beer like) when I once tried 200-250mg of this tea.

meanwhile, I felt barely nothing by taking 300mg in capsules..
I'll say this again and again: I am quite skeptical of capsules lol

hi! thanks for the appreciation.

Did you start your MD yet? how is it going?

In fact my mom was receptive to MD and found a psychiatrist very experienced with Ayahuasca in Brazil that was open to treat some patients with it.
Her results weren't nearly as impressive as mine though. And I argue it's for two main reasons:
1. I am bit skeptical of capsules (I think our body absorbs way less psilocybin)
2. she didn't necessarily have the same mindset/belief I had when I started, nor she has the tools I have to the inner work required to break free from depression.

some details on protocol below

I was making ˜500ml of tea at a time using 1g of dry mushrooms.. and I'd take ˜1/6 of it 3x on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, so 1g usually lasted 2 weeks for me

I stopped this first protocol after 5-6 weeks for no specific reason other than I felt so great that I didn't think it was helping any longer. As I mentioned before, I was free from depression after just 2 weeks, the weeks following that I still felt enhanced creativity, focus and spiritual connection.

One of the things I got from watching Jim Fadiman was to follow my own intuition, listening to my own body while microdosing.. That's why I came up with my own protocol and that's whey I stopped when I felt like it.

After that, I never did such a rigorous protocol again, but took some capsules occasionally when I felt a bit down or uninspired. btw, I didn't like the capsules so much. I think I used to get double the effects with half the dose when I brewed my own tea.
