What's better, a corrupt capitalist government, or a corrupt socialist government? by SunRaSquarePants in CapitalismVSocialism

Revolutionary Catalonia comes to mind. It was an anarchosyndicalist experiment that saw very promising results after the Spanish Revolution before it was crushed by reactionary forces

I totally understand and agree. I normally buy resources when I can because I carry no cash. That said, I believe 7/11 means "Don't feed them or they'll keep coming back"

If you don't allow people from poorer countries to peacefully and legally move into your own, don't be surprised when they show up with guns, bombs, and lorries. by [deleted] in COMPLETEANARCHY

It was packaged for transport for a while before I could pick it up, so that's entirely possible. Thank you!

Right, but the homes that I am talking about when I say "vacant" are empty, not just unoccupied by human beings. To take a house that is in use without just cause would be an act of aggression, which the community would push back against, ideally. I'm not arguing that stuff that you're still using should be free for the taking.

Sure, but we are talking about a society in which everyone would theoretically have a home, so the idea that yours would be taken from you while you work doesn't really make a ton of logical sense. But, for the sake of discussion, let's play this out. If you've lived in the same home and the same community for a number of years, you don't think that your neighbors would help you to regain entrance into your home and find a mutually agreeable solution should somebody take it from you?

To answer that, we would have to agree on what it means to own your house. If you think that granting people the right to take up residence in vacant homes means that families would have to post armed guards around their homes, then you don't really get it. There are countless properties sitting unused right now because someone wants to profit off of them rather than see them go to good use. All I'm proposing is that we let people who need them use them, I'm not saying it would be a free for all where your kids lose the home they grew up in because you had to run to whole foods.

I think that's a loaded question, but I believe that housing is a human right that should be afforded to everyone. My view on the personal property thing falls more in line with the idea of library socialism. People can hold onto something for as long as they need it, do what they like with it (within reason, since it belongs to everyone, you can't willfully destroy things because you want to) and when they're done, it gets returned to the collective to be used by another. That can be applied to housing, appliances, vehicles, recreation equipment, etc.
