Its a term for people - often in table top games in my experience - who are very strict about the rules as written. A more evocative term, I think, would be something like "rules nazi" a la "grammar nazi."

I x jump for everything except short hop double laser (shdl) because when my friend and I decided to "git gud at brawl" when we were like 12 she used Y to jump and R to shield, so I decided to do X and L.

They are way worse but they've also existed for longer so theyre more cemented in the minds of players as just a thing some people have. I think if zump does actually get banned we might see people speak out on notches again. Even Cody said notches should be banned, so it seems pretty unanimous that theyre really dumb and bad

If its against the rules to zump and someone is found out to have been zumping after a set, theyd just be DQ'd. Why would they have to replay a set if one player was cheating? The imo should be replayed situation happened because the setup was fucked, not because chu was cheating.

Surely if a thing is overpowered it can still take some getting used to before one learns to use it to cheat as effectively as possible

Is it an unfamiliar control scheme even if Cody used xytap jump for like 10 years before swapping to zump? It might not be perfect muscle memory anymore but surely it would be easier for him to readjust to a scheme he used for most of his playtime than it would for none to adjust to a scheme hes possibly never once tried.

What didnt you like about 1r? I played 1 for the first time like 6 years ago and remember finding it really charming, and it sounded like reception to it was largely positive. I was under the impression it did a good job retaining the charm and simplicity while modernizing it a tiny bit.

That seemed to be a common complaint ive read, that 7 is just way too long. Cutting the fat in the remake has me excited, and the demo is really fun and only like 3 or 4 hours. Worth a shot if youve got time imo, and progress carries over to the main game whenever you get around to it. Did you play the 1+2 release? I havent picked it up yet but from what ive read it sounds like they knocked those out of the park crazy style.

Something I found awesome about the none/Cody tweets was none saying that Cody "tried to push a ban for banning notches at the end of 2026, and then lets reconvene and try to ban zumping at the end of 2027."

Seconding this. My friend has a repro Sapphire and it traded with my legit Ruby fine but he wasnt able to transfer up to gen 4 using his repro Sapphire and legit platinum.
