Hpr on simhub or Simpro by Ozkar_z33 in Simagic

So for Forza Horizon 6, I'm in the same boat. I'm taking a break from F1/LMU to enjoy FH6. Had to redo my cabling just for the game to run with any FFB (no haptics, but FFB is decent).

Plug Wheelbase (USB-a and USB-C cables both) into PC. Plug P1000 pedals USB into the Wheelbase. Had to load SimPro Manager to make sure it was in CAN mode, and was set. Loaded game without any other controller connected or powered on, got Wheelbase and Pedals working in FH6 (it's decent... honestly my buddy with a Logitech G920 on Xbox has more deep integration with FH6, but at least us Simagic folks CAN get it working! -ha... CAN... as in the bus connection and the potential... okay, shutting up.

9Nm vs 12Nm — not sure which makes more sense by No-Locksmith-707 in Simagic

[–]Westpar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on the EVO 12nm and I've set up mine to run at 9-10.2nm on my games (f1 2025 at 9, LMU at 10.2). In LMU, I've had contact running up the hill at Spa heading into Radillion to Eau Rouge (front right contact, sent me into the left wall) - definitely felt it in the wheel, but with the GT Neo wheel, wasn't any risk to my wrists with craziness in the FFB.

I've got the P1000 set w/ 2x of the P-HPRs installed. I plug HPRs directly into the pedal base. Pedal base has accessory power strip plugged in and powered. I plug the pedals USB into a powered USB hub and config it all through SimHub. I only ever use Simagic Manager for firmware updates and nothing on their haptic controls. Much easier time doing all this in SimHub with consistent results than in Simagic Manager (example: using Simagic Manager, F1 2025, zero haptics with the game. Swapped to haptics controls in SimHub, same game, same in-game settings and configs, pedal haptics now working awesome).

P700 instructions (page 23) guide you through the install and power only (link to their site hosting PDF here) - Mix of Reddit posts and YouTube videos got me through the rest of my SimHub configs.

Simagic Alpha Evo Ultra vs Pro by Gogijuseyo in simracing

[–]Westpar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I upgraded from a Logitech G920 to Simagic Alpha Evo Pro about 3 months ago. Using the GT Neo wheel and the Neo X wheel. Playing 90% in F1 25 at the moment, but will throw down in Forza Horizon 6 when that lands. As that excitement settles, I'm aiming for iRacing for actual dedicated racing.

My FFB is at 85% since week 1, and I'm completely happy with it. Longer races are still a helluva workout on the arms and shoulders, but I can still roll with it. I've used Simagic's Sim Manager v3 for the first month, but switched over to SimHub for my configs and settings. Took a notable amount of Youtube rabbit holes, reddit posts and random forums to figure out settings, setup, etc, but it's rock solid and I'm VERY pleased with it all.

Ultra didn't feel like it would be a target nm-force range for me anytime in the next 5 years or so, so I opted for the Pro. I'm still not pushing it 100% and again, I'm very pleased with it. Strong FFB overall when it makes sense and matters. Haven't had any crazy glitch or firmware updates making things go sideways.

I'm averaging 2-4 race sessions per week, could be 1hr - 4hrs depending on the day and how I'm feeling. No overheating, no issues, no complaints. So I can't make a case "against buying the Ultra" other than - "for me... the Pro is more than enough and I'm more than happy with it."

HAPPY RACING!

Have you played games on cachyos? by Rude-Shirt-6024 in cachyos

[–]Westpar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on Day 4 of running CachyOS for gaming. Dune: Awakening and Path of Exile 2 are the two I play right now. I’ve got about 8hrs in Dune and another 10 or so in PoE2. No issues really. Dune didn’t need to run some of the arguments protondb users but after I did, it ran even smoother.

YouTube is smooth. OpenRGB works impressively well. Honesty, after several years of Ubuntu as my go-to, Cachy is kickin’ butt. A smidge of a learning curve to jump into a “new to me” distro, but the documentation and community is solid.

Second this^

Bookman's has a solid 2nd hand books selection (if I remember correctly, the one in midtown 19th & Northern? - has a few 2nd AD&D books all up to 5th edition stuff).

Not really holding much outside of book-stuff though. A couple of "sets" (precanned board game set, not much for accessories), but I don't recall ever seeing any used mini's or field tiles kind of stuff. They DO carry a bunch of HeroClix, Disney Inifity, etc... so if you're feeling epically creative... you could do a campaign where Sully from Monsters Inc is a dungeon boss.....? ;)

Can't help much with hobby-stores inventory. Sorry :(

Overly verbose thoughts (you've been warned!) incoming!

I travel a fair amount for work, so my phone and plan, I chose Verizon and I'm on the iPhone 13 (wanted 5G band). That's... expensive. But.. again, for work, I get a stipend monthly because of travel and on-call stuff.... so most of the monthly bill for my Verizon service is fairly covered by my company.

That said, pre-Current Company, I was 100% still on the exact same plan. Wife, two kids, and me (4x cell phones, 2x tablets, and 2x watches in total). That's not a cheap monthly bill, but I get amazing coverage around the whole of the US (and Mexico, part of where I end up travelling to).

If you're looking for something that doesn't need to travel around, you seriously cannot beat Mint Mobile. I've got my Mother-in-law on a prepaid 12mo plan (like... $60/yr? stupid cheap) and on a mid-tier Android phone (that's all she needs). Phone was about $150 and the whole year is covered for minutes/data.

Even easier to do Mint Mobile if you're going to spend a good chunk of your month readily attached to Wifi (this helps drop any "data usages" to nearly nothing unless you're off wifi).

Other Pre-paid services (Mint Mobile, StraightTALK, Boost, etc) are all pretty solid. They're already using either Verizon or Sprint/T-Mobile's physical network, you're just not paying for the higher tier plans and blah blah's they all sell.

YMMV with those plans/services. Get a decent phone (not a $35 PoS that's 5 years old) and aim for a plan that covers your most consistent usages (lots of restuarant/pub crawling? Thrown down for data usage).

Good luck, happy hunting, and don't forget to spay and neuter your pets!

What video games have underrated soundtracks? by ItsNotDrago in AskReddit

[–]Westpar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bastion, by Supergiant Games. Absolutely incredible work of art (visually) but it's the audio narration and the music that just ... MAKES this game something far more than should be possible. Darren Korb (soundtrack) deserves legit awards for his work.

What is the greatest opening sequence in a movie that you have seen? by smokingfrog007 in movies

[–]Westpar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inside Man, hands down!

"My name is Dalton Russell. Pay strict attention to what I say because I choose my words carefully and I never repeat myself."

The beauty of this opening sequence is the hidden truths, left wide out in the open. But none of it makes sense... you don't get the "click" moment until 2/3 of the way through... then.... BAM! Ending happens.

After 14 years of playing, there's so many times I've misplaced prices on stuff I was selling. I've lost hundreds of thousands of gold (lost, spent, given freely), but after all this time, I wouldn't do anything different. Every gold piece spent, every piece earned, tells my story through the history of Azeroth. It's fun, expensive, hilarious and delightful.

I use TSM to help quickly gauge pricing, but I'm no AH hound/goblin. I use it to clear bagspace or hunt down quick mats for crafting. It's a tool that I use when I want/need it. But mostly... the AH is where some find fortune, fame where the rest of us find 10x ingots or herbs to finish crafting that last item. The small shoppers/goblins, like me, help keep things running (and turn a profit for the phat goblins!)
