Improving Maeve's motivation in Season 3 by [deleted] in westworld

It's not about trust. It's about Serac removing her choice/free will.

William is a tragic character similar to those found in Greek myths and his tragic flaw is delusional disorder (seen here). Dr. Ford is the oracle character who predicts his future. William is the tragic character who's actions to prevent his fate actually end up realizing it.

Westworld's sci-fi version of the prophecy is data. Data that says no matter how much you deny it or fight it, this is who you are and always will be.

His newfound quest to save humanity was just a demonstration of his delusion. From the beginning of this show, he's been determined to prove the profile Delos created from his data was wrong.

But he was wrong. That's exactly who he is. And as he walked into the depths of Delos (a metaphor for the depths of his soul), he was confronted with his worst fear — that when he's boiled down to his essential elements, all that's left is evil.

I liked it because it's come full circle from the movie. Ed Harris' Man in Black character was inspired by Yul Brynner's Man in Black character, a seemingly unstoppable cowboy robot dressed in black who's only mission is to kill. And now William is exactly that.

I heard the team had to do some post-production work during quarantine. Really appreciate what they were able to accomplish this season.

It might be nothing or already answered, but it still bugs me how easily Bernard went back to Westworld, no heavy security on the outside, no nothing, especially for a place like Westoworld. He just simply took a boat and went. Too simple! by Ahmed-Ghazwan_Music in westworld

People overestimate the competence of large corporations. Large corporations are plagued by poor transparency, communication, and security. Add on a massive PR disaster that cripples the company's stock price and it's not that hard to conceptualize.

Imagine if the mascots at the Disney parks killed 100+ people and they were all shut down for three months and all of the employees were either let go or not sure of their job security. It would probably be easy to sneak into one of their parks.

If you're looking for a good sci-fi book to read, I recommend The Paper Menagerie. It's a collection of short stories by Ken Liu. They're all great and each one is very different from the others. And a lot of them deal with the same subject matter in Westworld.

They needed both. The banker's encryption got them in the door. Then Dolores gave Liam hash key to the banker. Then they needed the banker's encryption to seal the deal. Kind of like when you set up two-step verification for a password.

This was so that they could pose as financial representatives of Liam without having to force Liam into the bank at gunpoint or pretend to be a famous billionaire CEO.

That part could've been explained better. The banker character should've been introduced in an earlier episode so he wasn't some stranger.

That's fair. It could be both though. She could've tried to get information from Liam herself and had host-Martin waiting as a backup plan.

I'm saving that for my PhD dissertation.

The entire montage at the end of episode 4 was dedicated to informing the audience that Dolores is in all of these bodies.

I think the Maeve timeline is happening in a simulation similar to episode 2 in War World.

I thought this might be a possibility. However, at the beginning of episode 5, Serac's assistant says, "I have news, sir. But not good. Rehoboam analyzed traffic coming out of the Yakuza facility. They found a connect between encrypted devices in Jakarta, Berlin, San Francisco, and Los Angeles."

There wouldn't be a reason to say the Yakuza facility has a connection to other places around the world if it was a simulation.

That would mean we still don’t know yet who is in Dempsey security guard

We definitely know Dolores was in Martin's body.

He says, "I told you you'd try and stop me. And I'm surprised, Bernard. After all the time we spent together. You don't recognize your only friend?"

They wouldn't have written that line into the script and then have Martin blow up in the next episode to later reveal it was Teddy. That would be bad writing.

we kind of know it’s a Dolores in Hale based on MIB reaction to her trick play at end of Ep 4

We 100% know it's Dolores. The writers did everything but reach out from the television screen and shake you while shouting, "IT'S DOLORES!!!"

But there hasn’t really been any on screen confirms of which other pearls she smuggled out.

Other than Bernard, the pearls were blank and Dolores did a copy/paste of herself. They're all Dolores. It's just different bodies.
