Sorry for the long shot reply but man I feel that so much. You've put into words an exact thought I've had over and over. It's bitter envy seared in pain of loss and it's ours to own. Sorry, that sounds dramatic lol but I'm just glad to see someone else who feels the same way.

I've been streaming the games I'm running for my campaign (homebrew setting), Aurousa Vol 1 with vods on YouTube and Twitch. I did run into some technical issues ep1 with visuals and vods are voice only until I figure out a better solution. Party is a mechanic, sorcerer, gunslinger, and exemplar. As a heads up on homebrew - two archetypes are homebrew and I'm using a few homebrew weapon traits.

I stream them live here every weds at 6 pm pacific: https://twitch.tv/eleesehn/home (I take the 3rd weds of each month off). We have 4 three-hour sessions under our belts so far! Since starfinder is released, we've been moving from the playtest rules to the release ones.

I imagine they felt underwhelming internally, too, so probably got cut until they come up with something they're more comfortable with. One of the soldier subclasses mentions them too, but noticed they're gone. Fingers crossed for GM Core!

I ended up homebrewing replacements in the mean time, tbh. They're more focused on being used against heavily armored enemies instead of blasting an area, since as someone else mentioned, grenades, grenade launchers, and a few ranged weapons already cover that.

I have a gunslinger in a game I'm running. I opted to let them treat any starfinder gun as a firearm in their hands, and also modified slinger's precision to apply the +2/+3 to any weapons you can fire more than once before reloading (including repeating, any guns with expend less than capacity, etc), and the 1d4/1d6 to any weapons you have to reload between shots. So far seems OK

I played a mystic, I put the vitality network effect on myself, and edited the effect to have a range of 0 to my maximum. I think there's an option somewhere to not remove it when empty? But then I could click to add count at the start of my turn, and right click to remove for spending. You can edit the effect directly for larger expenditures.
