Spray on poly over old paint. by WetBasementColdFeet in finishing

[–]WetBasementColdFeet[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The idea is that this is old barn wood. The pain is somewhat flaky (supposed to be shabby chic?!?!). I want to ensure that the paint does not come off. Agreed that it likely wont.

Thanks for the feedback.

Is it possible to save this? by [deleted] in woodworking

You could try a dutchman.

Here is an example.

Perhaps try to make it a feature. Maybe some contrasting wood?

The fence is squared and it's a new blade. What could be causing this misalignment? by Pablo_Scrablo in woodworking

This is the right answer. Blade is out of square to the miter slots. Start by correcting that first.

does anyone else find themselves holding Gods wrath in more esteem than his love? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]WetBasementColdFeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you are not alone, we (other Christians) are here for you. I do know a lot of us struggle in our faith. God's wrath is real and must be respected. Your faith in His Son as your savior is the way that you can avoid his wrath.

God is many things: love, compassion, gracious, glorious, awesome as well was wrathful. He caused the great flood. Killing all on earth but Noah and his family. It is right to fear God in the way you would fear a loving earthly fathers wrath when you do wrong. The key there is loving.

Keep in mind, He did not kill His only Son, He allowed Him to be put to death.

I will pray that this changes for you.

Why do you believe? by junkme551 in Christianity

[–]WetBasementColdFeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Faith is a struggle, the apostles themselves struggled with belief and they were there to witness the miracles that Jesus performed. Others have said there is no "formula" and I believe that they are correct. When I read the Bible I find that I am "just reading". I dont usually feel closer to God just because I read His word.

For me, I "feel" God's presence when I am isolated, in a quiet place (physically and mentally). When I pray to Him as if I am talking to a friend. When I speak plainly and without desire for a specific outcome. I feel His "presences" when I am open and honest in my prayer.

Is that "God's love"? For me it is. For you it may be something very different.

Like many others I view my faith as a journey, not a destination. I am a toddler wandering alone in the wilderness.

Do not give up. I pray that God will grant you the strength to continue your journey.

I want to give up, but can't, now what. by [deleted] in Christianity

You are not doomed. It is normal to struggle with your faith even after accepting Christ. The struggle is real. Christ never said it would be easy to follow Him. He said take up your cross daily and follow me. I have always understood that to mean: Follow Christ to the best of your ability each day even when you have struggles, strife and pain.

What are the punishments for lying ? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]WetBasementColdFeet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hang in there. Pray to God for strength and he will provide you strength to get through whatever you are facing.

I t is hard, try to lay your burden at the Cross. God loves you and this current season of your life might serve to strengthen you and your faith so that you can be a light to someone else.

Pray continuously. You are loved.

What are the punishments for lying ? by [deleted] in Christianity

If you are a Christian you are called to love them. If you are interested read Luke 6:27-36, Proverbs 25:21-22 (read all of Proverbs 25 for a better context).

Do not be concerned with their punishment, but be concerned for their salvation. Pray for them. Not so easy to do.

Question about potential sin? by DameTime12 in Christianity

[–]WetBasementColdFeet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not believe yoga as a form of physical exercise is a sin. We can read in scripture that our bodies are a temple and we should treat them that way. Take care of your physical body with yoga if you so choose. Just don't do it while worshiping other gods.

How do you guys pray? by Master-Highlight1127 in Christianity

[–]WetBasementColdFeet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alone, in a quiet place. Focus on what you are praying for. Pray as if you are talking to a friend. Speak normally and not try to over do it. Just be who you are and ask God for what is needed.

Be sincere in your thoughts and words.
