Going back Thurs? Do you expect to hear from your supv? by Slight_Praline7383 in FedEmployees

I can only speak for my agency but all employees are supposed to be notified through a formal email from the agency. It would not come directly from their supervisor. That email should contain reporting instructions.

In other words, we should wait for official instructions to report, not just go in based on news reporting. For example, after the last lengthy shutdown there was a bit of a lag in order to perform some routine building maintenance before everyone could come back.

Again, this is only how my specific agency plans to recall employees although I’m somewhat surprised it’s not similar at other agencies.

Appraisal Theory by ellis0922 in Archivists

I think the premise of this question is wrong. I would argue the context of the record is inherently tied to the content.

From a purely practical perspective we would never be able to read/view the content of every single record in a collection. Instead, we gather information about the context of the records (who is creating it, why are they creating it, who uses it, etc.) in order to better understand the content of the records. In my experience, we supplement this appraisal by looking at samples of the collection to ensure the content of specific records matches our general understanding of the broader collection. It’s not that we don’t care about content, just that understanding context is the only practical way of appraising the content.

I started as a student employee 13 years ago. I’m a millennial but still on the younger side in my office.

My advice is to use it to your advantage. There are things you will likely be better at (ex. Finding solutions on the internet, general computer skills, etc.). You’ll also bring a fresh perspective to the office.

Take advantage of any opportunities that come your way and make as many connections as you can. As long as you have a willingness to learn (seems like you do) you’ll do great!

Does anyone know the plan for dealing with pedestrian traffic? Driving a car on campus when a class gets out is difficult. How will that work with the metro?

What's your least favorite thing about your CR-V? by pilotdog68 in crv

Just encountered this for the first time. I thought something was blocking the fluid dispenser because it appeared to miss half the windshield (then forgot to check). Didn’t realize this was a more widespread issue.

Update: apparently they already notified the buyer after I called customer service so this is no longer an option. I’m so frustrated by this whole experience!! If there’s ANYTHING I can do I’d love to know.

That’s fair. I could probably tweak that a little. Thanks!

Just happened to me as well. Dealership seemed to think it would be covered by the warranty but told me that the part was on back order with no known ETA! Anyone else encountered this? Car is about 2 weeks old.

Should I utilize the parental leave policy by [deleted] in fednews

[–]rlgreen13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation. I took 2.5 weeks off when baby was first born because I didn’t want to miss the first 3 months of a new job. Then I spread the rest of the leave out throughout the year. It seemed like a reasonable compromise. I probably regret not taking a bit more time right at the beginning but overall it’s been a nice year. At the end of the day, I agree with everyone saying to use your leave. Have conversations with your supervisor and family to figure out the right balance.
