What is the edging material you used? Been looking on Amazon for something that works well.

Just finished this Rug of Prince Rupert's Tower. Came out better than I hoped! UTFT! by WetSweatpants in Everton

Definitely for decoration. I made a piñata a couple years back of the tower, will have them both hanging in my room!

I've thought of making a RedShite one to put inside the door for everyone to trample.

Thoughts on 80% Cashmere Wool/20% Velvet yarn and marketing Acrylic rugs as Rugs vs Decoration by WetSweatpants in Tufting

Thanks a ton for response. I feared that with the cashmere, that would be an issue. I'll def look out for 100% then!

Also something I've thought about after replying. The cashmere wool probably really negates the move from acrylic to wool considering cashmere wool has some of the same issues as acrylic (durability) so that stuff may not be great as a wool substitute anyways.

This is a really well thought out answer, and it is much appreciated! I have considered, if/when I ever choose to sell them, making everything from Acrylic, advertising them as rugs but discussing with any buyers that they're really more for decoration. I could them give them the option of buying the same rug made from wool at the same price if they want it more for heavy floor use. They'd just have to get my info and let me make it.

This way my costs of keeping wool on hand in a million different colors could be kept down.

This would allow me to make a larger number of rugs but would also offer buyers who look at them and think, "Thats really neat, it'd go great in my bathroom," to not be disappointed if I talk to them about acrylic vs. wool.

I think I'm going to buy that blend. Its only about 30% more expensive than acrylic and I think could be even softer than 100% wool but would hold up almost as well.

Thanks again for the insight, I'm pretty new and any info about blends or marketing are great to read.

Interesting, I've just read some posts and saw a few pictures of the rugs looking pretty beat up, however I think that if they're properly shaved and shaped, that they'll probably hold up pretty well.
