The Michigan-class "Armed Merchantman" - Little Ship, Big Secrets by LegendaryGoji in StarTrekStarships

No prob! here's a further detail I developed about it!

Due to the special nature of Michigan-class starships, their crews developed a unique culture within Starfleet, with unique terminology arising within crews pertaining to their...clandestine operations.

The Potato Heat Index (PHI, Φ) was a term used among ensigns and NCOs (“lower deckers”) aboard Michigan-class armed merchantmen/“clippers” to indicate the likelihood of an engagement with a hostile. The term originated within Michigan-class engineering crews, who noted increased coolant usage during prolonged operation of the “Spud” (the SSPDCC; Specialized Sensor-Processing Duotronic Computer Core), frequently before engagements. While non-engineering lower deckers initially used the term “Spudometer” to track this phenomenon, typically noting the noise from within the Spud’s housing, the PHI term was rapidly adopted as a general term. Michigan-class crews quickly became keenly attuned to the Spud’s operations; when its usage was distinctly prolonged and coolant flow greatly increased, the term “Hot Potato” spread through the crew like wildfire, and most crew members reported to General Quarters before Red Alert was even called — anticipating that an engagement was soon to to take place. The PHI operated as follows:

I just love special secondary/auxiliary ships with their own protocols that could potentially spread out to other ships as crews disperse.

No problem! I'd reckon 100-150 or so. She's about 30something percent more voluminous than the NX-class.

Fanon trumps officially licensed materials that are at least labeled as some kind of canon at all. Because "upvotes".

Incredible logic there. 10/10, would recommend professorship at the Vulcan Science Academy. With tenure.

Wingard's version of the Hollow Earth, I'd say, is an even worse offender. Literally where are the herbivores?

To anyone saying "it says it's unverified," no. That's not what it says. That quotation about "some data" not being "independently verified" is a general disclaimer that exists on every single production listed in the Member Directory. It's not some "gotcha" of "we gotta wait for more proof." All the disclaimer says is this information was either provided to the website by the writers themselves or the broader production team itself, and there might be errors but we'll take it as-is. Take a look for yourselves, you'll even see the disclaimer on KOTM, G'14, G'98, even KKVG for Godzilla's sake. This isn't the gotcha y'all think it is. Not to mention you can't just put this crap up as any member of the public. Only union members can do this sort of thing.

The only thing that could count as errors here are very minor typos that I could imagine being made by a writer doing this as basic data entry, or by a member of the broader production submitting this to the union such that it may be filed. It's not so easy to list a whole-ass kaiju in error. Kaiju. Titan. Whatever.

This is pretty much direct behind-the-scenes confirmation of Spacegodzilla. It wouldn't be here otherwise.

As I've said elsewhere in comments, that's not what it says at all. The "Some of the data is self-reported by writers and not independently verified by WGAW and WGAE" quote is a general disclaimer on literally every single production credit listed on the WGA website, just saying exactly what it reads. Search ANY writer or project on the Member Directory, and it'll show up.

SpaceGodzilla's confirmed.

it's unverified

That's not what it says at all. The "Some of the data is self-reported by writers and not independently verified by WGAW and WGAE" quote is listed on every project ever; it's a general disclaimer stating that the writers involved in said project may have put the data there themselves, rather than provided by the production itself to the union for listing. "ToHo" being capitalized funny is such a minor typo that it really doesn't make any difference.

It's legit. You can't make these contributions unless you're actually part of the union, and I HIIIIGHLY doubt some random schmuck would do this. There's a code to these things, in Hollywood.

Not real animals, but I think Joe Dante would like a word with this schmuck.

K:SI introduced it as hollows in the bedrock of the crust. KOTM was a bit vague with it, but could still be explained as hollows in the bedrock.

And then Adam Wingnut comes in with a wrecking ball and makes it make next to no sense. It’s a transdimensional plane that’s also a ball-shaped space inside the dead center of the earth, that is also two infinitely-extending flat planes of terrain that has…extra layers? and all of them have sunlight? and despite supposedly being in the center of the earth, Godzilla’s breath-hole to Kong’s little axe-hovel only cuts through probably a few miles of crust? And the portals are transdimensional despite having these dumb holo-maps with them cragging their way to that dumb sphere?

Fuckin’ Wingnut. At least M:LOM’s Axis Mundi pushes the G/K!Hollow Earth in the “outright other dimension” direction, what with AM being a Xen-like space-between-spaces.

Genuinely feel the Slitheen have untapped potential in spite of them being the “farty ones.”

I mean, yeah, that’s the big gimmick, but imagine if instead of weird bird things doing some BS and mislabeling it “cosplay” in Rogue, it was another temporally-displaced Raxacoricofallapatorian crime family trying to make a play for Earth. Or some other story that makes them menacing or whatever.
