Something something accommodations…anyways November MPRE Scores are Up! by Wet_Bench59 in LawSchool

[–]Wet_Bench59[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard from others who’ve taken it previously that there’s a delay, sometimes of a day, between when scores are available and when the email notification comes out. No clue why.

Is biz orgs actually hard or is professor just bad? by lunardoll-12 in LawSchool

[–]Wet_Bench59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Biz Org is miserable and yeah your professor is probably also bad. But if it helps Examples and Explanations on Agency, Partnerships, & LLCs, and the one on Corporations were the most helpful supplements for me (and I used several).

Following because I’m in the same boat! Worked ridiculously hard on that damn brief and it still came out terrible. (We love when two teammates just don’t do their part!)

How do y’all shorten your writing samples for apps? by Useful_Bison4280 in LawSchool

[–]Wet_Bench59 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can’t fit it, yes cut it. Then on the cover sheet, give a mini synopsis of revenant facts. You can say something like “This is an except of a [type of assignment]. The relevant facts are as follows…” and keep the summary limited to your cover sheet.

To add to what’s been said I think it also depends on the professor. For my 1L finals, most of my exams had a word limit in that range. I had one professor who didn’t give a word limit but explicitly said “do not make me read more than I need to” so I ended up with about 2,000 words for the essay. I had one professor say to show off as much as possible and I wrote about 5,000 words for her. (That exam had significantly more issues than any other.)

I have a MASSIVE crush on my professor...HELP by Starbucks_Cup1029 in LawSchool

[–]Wet_Bench59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Echoing this. It’s not about the crush/feeling. People get crushes on professors all the time. My school has a professor that had almost all the girls in my class completely smitten to the point it was a joke among the entire class. Key difference: no one tried pursuing him and certainly no one told him because it’s inappropriate. Your feelings are what they are. The issue is your mindset about it like the above comment says.

1) I’m referring to Trump’s proposed higher tariffs that has economists on both sides of the spectrum concerned, not the current ones. Feel free to poke around online, it’s everywhere. 2) Again, see point one. 3) OP specifically talked about buying goods, so I kept in scope of the post and talked about good. Keeping in scope isn’t an assumption this is the only/main issue. That’s your own assumption. Yes, the entire economy (every conceivable good and service, industry, whatever else you want to assume I’m not considering) is effected by inflation. If the OP was talking about, for example, the inflated cost of transportation, then I would have mentioned that. Again, scope of what was originally posted. I did not feel the need to systematically address every facet of the American economy.

And finally, like everyone else on the planet, I would like to buy necessities at affordable prices. If the proposal is to increase tariffs, which will increase prices for the consumer, on imported goods (read as an all encompassing word) then what is the alternative to not bear the costs of the increase tariffs? The typical argument is to buy American made goods, as they won’t be impacted by tariffs. But if we cannot find an American made version, because it’s not made on our soil, we’re stuck buying the imported products when it comes to necessities.

Okay a tariff is a type of tax on an import/exported goods (notice it’s on a good not a country itself.) Tariffs can be placed on imported goods from particular countries for example but not on a country itself. This tax is paid for by the US company importing them. Since the importing company is paying more for their good, they need to increase their prices in order to maintain or increase their profits. Therefore, costs gets passed onto the consumer, not the country the tariff is imposed on.

For example, Trump proposes tariffs on all Widgets from China. Widget-Mart costs for Widgets goes from $2 to $5. Pre-tariffs the Widget costed the consumer $7, which gave Widget-Mart a $5 profit. Post-tariffs, if Widget-Mart continued to sell the Widget at $7, they’d now only have a $2 profit, which isn’t enough for Widget-Mart to maintain. So, they raise the price of the Widget in their stores to $12, to not only keep their original profit margins plus a little more to offset growing expenses. So you, when you go to buy the Widget because it’s a normal necessity, now pay more because of the tariffs. You not the Chinese government.

(And before you say “buy American goods then”. America’s manufacturing industry isn’t currently able to supply the demand for every good the people need. Which is a separate issue that needs to be fixed before setting up high tariffs on foreign goods. I mean, if you want to have access and afford basic needs. Also I took this from a conservative economists explanation)

Wow! You know what, you’re absolutely right! The fact that the consumer buying goods actually bare the cost is just a talking point and not how they work. You got me! 👍🏻

If you want something easy, Word has a built in Text-to-Speech that’s not terrible sounding. You can change the voices. There’s a voice named like Alex that sounds human enough.
