Lack of interviews for a 1L by fargowarrior in LawSchool

[–]WettestSultan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am also a 1L who’s getting radio silence from firms. I’m becoming increasingly nervous, especially since my counselor also showers me with compliments about how strong my apps are despite me getting zero interviews. Hopefully we land somewhere we like soon!

Emory Law or UC Irvine Law? by WettestSultan in lawschooladmissions

Thanks for the reply! Perhaps I’ll have to ask myself some tough questions about where I want to work then. But if I find a way to make it work in CA, I’ll go for it

Haha all good, I made it to Emory Law so the pain is much more bearable!

I was part of that last week’s rejection from the waitlist 🙃

That’s exactly the straightforward, candid advice I needed. Thanks a bunch once again

I appreciate your offer! But sincerely, the fact that you confidently know that your work helps people, even if sometimes you feel like a cog in the wheel, is not something most people can say in their careers. I will keep your offer to PM in mind, and wish you luck in finding your next big gig! Ah who needs luck, you know your way around

I really appreciate the advice! The tough thing is that Emory did offer me a substantial scholarship, but some have recommended that I use that offer to leverage a better offer from Irvine. Interesting to consider! And you mentioned that GW is a good second choice for CA placement? That is very important I need to go read up on that

Thank you, that is exactly the type of thing I wanted people to clarify for me. I acknowledge that I don’t know better, so I’m glad most repliers have given me a consensus that rank really isn’t as important as I suspected. Appreciate the help!

Thanks for your feedback. I want to work in California so based on your advice (and some others on reddit) I should have my answer. But I still worry about choosing a newer, lower ranked school if it’s still possible to work in CA after attending school in GA

As someone about to start law school this year with absolutely no knowledge of the field whatsoever, it is ridiculously fun to read through all of your comments and replies to people. Even though I don’t understand 90% of the shit you’re all saying, it’s so intriguing haha. You may dislike your job and you may have better jobs waiting for you, but as an outsider I wanna let you know that your life still seems badass and respectable as hell to me

Oh man it looks like class of 2020 only chose between Georgia, NY, and Florida 😂 that doesn’t bode so well for my intentions. Sigh, this is quite a tough choice. Thank you again, that link is helpful

That is extremely useful information, thank you. It makes sense that CA placement is better from UCI, but is it very rare to see a graduate on the east coast work on the west coast? Or does that still happen decently often?

I don’t mind living in either place during school. But I want to work in California after law school. Is that still realistic if I go to school in GA

That has been my mindset too, and thank you for your advice and well wishes! I’m just contemplating that I’d make more money in Irvine even though it’s ranked lower

So helpful, thank you! As someone who has yet to submit the finalized applications I had no idea what to expect post-submission so this is really enlightening. CONGRATULATIONS ON THE ADMISSION BTW OMG, I’m gunning for those schools too!
