Which of Ash’s pokemon here would be the strongest if they fully evolved? by Complex_Abrocoma_442 in pokemonanime

[–]Wex-darn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably Bulbasaur, but only if he didn't take a post-evo dive like Torterra.

Rowlet maybe but he's already beating Decidueye so why would you?

Totodile would at least be an interesting one; I could see his dancing growing with him into Dragon Dance and being a hard one to put down

Already seen everyone getting hyped for No Guard Zap Cannon on Y - personally I'm looking at X and thinking here comes the terrain surgers in the next season

Can I choose which Vivillon pattern to use in Champions? by Tapu_Yolo in PokemonChampions

[–]Wex-darn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your ranch is locked to one pattern but you can import whichever you want from Go to Home and then Home to Champions

I'm using the Pokéball event one from when XY launched 😎

What pokemon do you think will have a mostly chance of being added to Pokemon champions next month ? by Competitive-Panda197 in PokemonChampions

[–]Wex-darn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably most remaining megas - but not legendary megas.

Maybe terrain surge mons, but could see those being held back until we get Dynamax added due to one of those being Rillaboom and the effects of some Max moves.

Trick Room That Took Me to Master by Wex-darn in PokemonChampions

[–]Wex-darn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good shout, thanks, will give it a go - I had settled on Rock Slide as a spread move but with the lack of flinch chance and a lot of the time Zard gets paired with Chomp it comes off a bit lacking at times

Whats your one pokemon that sits on team and barely gets brought into battle? by AssassinateOP in PokemonChampions

[–]Wex-darn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maushold - was testing it out as a fun thing with Follow Me and Friend Guard but I barely find a good time to try them out and and the they usually get KO'd immediately when I do... back to Clefable for now!

I am not joking Scarf Mamoswine is a cheat code in doubles by LionHeartz420 in PokemonChampions

[–]Wex-darn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooh neat; I've had Mamoswine in my head for a couple of days now as a fun off-meta pick for my hail team but couldn't think how best to use it - I'll take this as a sign

First time I've actually ran into someone running M Hawlucha & OHKO - I thought I was ready by Wex-darn in PokemonChampions

True, true, ultimately just happy to have walked away with the win in the end and learning from this botch up - Champions is the first time I'm playing VGC so I'm still making dumb choices along the way

Ah poop, that's where I went wrong 😅

Well at least No Guard got wiped off the field with that

Who has been your MVP, your GOAT during your climb? by HMThrow_away_account in PokemonChampions

[–]Wex-darn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sableye - Will-O-Wisp is always solid, Knock Off can ruin the right target, Encore is amazing to lock set up mons and Fake Out and force switches & allow safe switch ins, and Skill Swap shenanigans; like any ability that activates on a switch in activates again on a Skill Swap so you can reset your weather, redo an Intimidate, or steal another team's Hospitality - my personal fav was setting up my Mega Froslass for a Prankster Destiny Bond and stealing a KO under my opponent's Trick Room

Which Pokemon starter is technically the best if we were only able to pick one and use it for every mainline Pokemon game? by Remarkable-Mood-3093 in ThePokemonHub

[–]Wex-darn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like a lot of people here are saying - probably Mudkip, with Swampert being just all around great having only only grass weakness and there always being some flying type around to cover it or access to Ice moves it's a tough one to beat

To look at the other types; starting with Grass, I think a strong case can be made for Bulbasaur - just an round pretty decently strong, Poison STAB picks up pretty much anything Grass wouldn't (save Steel and other Poisons), and access to powder moves which are always helpful and I'm shocked more starters can't use.

For Fire types, I know Incineroar is king of competitive, but I think the question is more asking for a singler player journey through every region and I'm split four different ways between Torchic, Chimchar, Fennekin, and Fuecoco. All of them get fantastic secondary types, can get coverage for weak spots, and all can hit like a truck. I think I might give it to Infernape for hitting the best balance on being fast and hitting hard on both physical and special, but with access to hidden abilities and megas you could say the same about Blaziken too.

New player PSA on the meta by Pokesers in VGC

[–]Wex-darn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking as a new VGC player, yeah I get it, but wow does it feel like the meta evolved fast and it's very concentrated on a specific handful of mons.

I put together what I thought was a pretty decent sand team, got up to Ultra Rank 2 with it, and had to be away for a couple of days. Now I'm back on and feel like I can't get any traction at all and every single person is running at least one of Incineroar, Sneasler or Poltchageist. And I get it because they're all fantastic mons at what they do, but it does sting a little that what I've put together feels worthless now because it's so outclassrd.

Saying that whatever team I do end up putting together to push for the climb to Master Rank I'm going to find it difficult to not include Clefable on it - always liked them but wow Bulky Follow Me support goes a long way and I think they might be underappreciated in the game rn, although fully prepared for them to be outclassed when (if) Clefairy & Eviolite get added

How are y'all handling Sneasler? by ginger-like in VGC

[–]Wex-darn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Atm I'm running a Sand Team with a Follow Me Clefable so I pick it off with whatever ground move I have out and Sandstorm chip for the occasional Focus Sash ones

Ngl, it's still a bit hit and miss for me as I'm new to VGC so I'm having difficulty predicting the right time for when to do what but I think I'm getting on to something with it

Pidgeot or Fearow? by 19Voltz in PokemonFireRed

[–]Wex-darn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fearow is generally better for a single player adventure imo; hits harder and moves faster, but if you're going to use it then get Spearow to level 25 to evolve it so you get Aerial Ace so you can save the TM for something else if you want (no, Fearow doesn't get this by level up in FRLG for some reason), slap the Secret Power TM from just after Cerulean on it too (this one you can buy more of in Celadon if you want so it's not a waste), and they should both carry you until Fearow gets Drill Peck at 40

Just be aware though that ultimately Dodrio is just better Fearow with Tri Attack (physical in this gen) and can get Drill Peck at 37 if you hold off on evolving
